Obviously Bama
And under the "if" category, LSU.

Vol fans, don't bitch about how shitty this place is when you guys continuously start threads like this.

Auburn was a preseason contender last year.

I used to think you were an OK poster, but now you're approaching Phat Phil levels.
No wonder UT fans get so much bullshite here with threads like this.

Thing is, with the current state of the east, it's not outlandish. Win the East and then anything can happen

It's not outlandish to think that we may have a shot. I do think that, in fact. This thread was still shite though. It was shameless self promoting and implying that we're decisively the best team in the league this coming year, which isn't true. Very Phat Phil-ish in nature. So I don't blame opposing fans for defecating all over this thread.

OP, Phil and Serraneaux are the only 3 Vol posters that consistently start awful threads like this.

Tweaked it a bit, but in general I don't think those buckets are far off from how I would dole out odds to SEC teams to be in contention.
--- Virtual lock to be in the discussion throughout the season ---
At this point, Bama's Bama until they prove they're not.
--- Contenders ---
Ole Miss - consecutive season wins over Bama, and took a complete collapse to UF on Grieroids and a 4th and 25 to kill their hopes of going to Atlanta last year. Returning Swag and still have a slew of talented WRs. LT will be interesting to see how they adapt without Tunsil *but* they were missing him for a good chunk last year as well.
Tenn - Schedule sets up the nicest for any east team probably. Likely Bama loss, but if they can break the UF curse and squeak out a win against UGA on the road (new coach, new QB), should be able to find their way to Atlanta. If they can't do it this year, they won't under Butch.
LSU - shite loads of returning talent. Amazing RB in LF7. Giant question at QB... can they get past being 1 dimensional to challenge the SECw on the offensive side of the ball.
--- Slim Chances ---
Georgia - Difficult to be unbiased here *but* even with turnover at the HC position and most of the staff and QB a bit unsettled currently, schedule is not terribly unfriendly. Ole Miss on the road probably looks to be the biggest challenge, followed by toss up between UT at home and UF at the WLOCP. Big upside if you make it out of those 3 games with 1 loss, and even with 2 could find your way to ATL depending on how the rest of the East shakes out. On the national scale, the UNC game starting the season may set the stage for what is/isn't possible.
UF - Reigning East champs but big question at QB and some key losses on the defensive side of the ball. Also, what's up with Antonio Callaway? Don't know what to expect from UF this year and as such couldn't decide where to put them... preseason slim chances, but with a hot start could find themselves in the discussion
--- Probably not pre-season contenders... but... ---
Auburn/Arky/A&M - All in the same bucket here to me (A&M maybe a little further behind the other 2)... sufficient talent on the rosters to absolutely come out and surprise, but residing in the west the "pre-season" hopes are a bit tempered. It would be very Auburn to follow up last year's hype campaign with a completely unhyped run at the title. Arkansas losing QB, key OL, and some real talent at RB (albeit likely reloading there) makes it difficult to move up, but if they can put the end of season magic together a bit earlier, Bert could do some damage in the west that might approximate the after effects of his visits to a buffet. A&M in "backs against the wall" mode. Can't count them out, but odds not in their favor.
--- Errbody else ---
Not impossible, but highly unlikely

Bruh. Tennessee isn't going to come close to even winning the SEC east, let alone a national fricking championship lol. You're high as a kite...

We were one point away from winning it last year. Are you high or just stupid?
Posted on 3/19/16 at 12:07 pm to BigOrangeBri
I can't even remember who won the East last year.
Posted on 3/19/16 at 12:14 pm to TheDarrell McSteal
The whole conference would be title contenders if they were in any other conference. At least according to some posters here.
