And then just arbitrarily choose the niners...

I'm the exact opposite of this thread. I'm born and raised in south LA, a double graduate of LSU and diehard, but grew up a giant Miami Dolphins fan.

frickin deal with it.

So what do you do with the University of Louisiana fans that don't care about LSU?

There aren't any of those.

There are people who root for ULL and LSU (or ULM and LSU or La Tech and LSU). Those people are just fine.

Then there are the people who support one of those schools and also hates LSU. We laugh at them.

I love New Orleans. It's my favorite city on earth. I also like the Saints in the sense that they bring a lot of money/attention into Louisiana as I already said.

If y'all really don't understand the difference between a for-profit professional team from New Orleans and the flagship, non-profit Louisiana State University then you're simply not capable of even semi-nuanced thought and there's nothing I can do for you.

well screw you. I grew up a Lakers fan, and switched when the Hornets moved to New Orleans.

Good to know it's coming from an authority on the topic... I'd hate to throw a question in that would ruin your argument.

I don't think anyone has shown the inability to understand the difference between the two so mental capability of anyone disagreeing with you shouldn't be in question. Not to mention that attempting to talk down to people is no clever way of winning an argument. I don't think I've ever responded to you on this forum. Is that your thing? Anyone educated enough to talk like that should know better.

Fair enough. You'll have to find another poor soul for jimmy rustling. I rarely care enough about things in real life to get worked up so a internet forum isn't going to do the trick. So, your last line would indicate that you really do have the education to know better. What would that be?

I can see where you're coming from. In the end, cheering for a professional team is basically cheering for a bunch of mercenaries you've hired.

And that's why even though I like the 49ers (and Pelicans) and it's something fun to get drunk and watch and sure I get worked up come playoff time; but it's not 1/100th of what LSU means to me. At the end of the day those kids chose to come to LSU and could have (and in some cases did) sit next to me in class and had similar experiences I had at that very profound and meaningful few years of life.

There is a reason you see so many Saints fans, LSU fans, Bama fans, Auburn fans, Ole Miss fans and Clemson fans around Georgia...there's also a reason you don't see so many of these same fans around New Orleans or Louisiana in general. People get somewhat successful and get the hell out.

Hmm. It would seem that we both have an affinity for saturated fields that, under the right circumstances, could blossom into something great. I have quite a few friends from college/high school in law. Half are doing quite well and the other half are not fairing so well. How is it looking so far?

Some places don't have professional teams, so they pick their favorite out of any team. I chose the Saints, but lately I haven't cared as much about them.

Not quite as attractive without a recent superbowl?
