Tiger Den is absolutely correct. First of all the SEC is top heavy and get a great deal of favorable press.

It's kind of hard not to be top heavy when the top team is winning the title every year and there are six teams in the top ten. The ACC is top heavy too, but their top is a two team race and the rest of their conference is horrible. And while one of those teams, Clemson, beat one of the top six SEC teams they are also coming off a loss to another of those top six. And the other one lost to Florida in that same week. shite happens.

Big XII is close on our heals, Florida and LSU aren't as dominant as they used to be. Georgia and A&M never will quite reach the UF/LSU level. Only Bama remains at that level.

The Big 12 is a terribly overrated conference.

Second best would be Big 10 or maybe PAC 12. Big 10 was hurt this year with the Penn State and OSU being out of the picture.

Having a mediocre bowl season after we had 4 teams with a shot at the BCS title during the season

And that just shows you how during the season the conference gets too much love in the polls. 3 of the 4 teams you speak of lost to Clemson, Louisville, and was taken to the wire by Nebraska.

Its loses like these that actually make us stronger. In the end, these type of embarrassments lead to program changes and resurgence. It takes an arse whipping to wake up sleeping giants sometimes. Look at when Utah beat Bama a few years back. While its embarrassing now, these losses do happen and to hear all this doomsday talk is just plain ole idiotic. While parity is a factor and the playing field is becoming more and more leveled, the SEC still brings in more talent than any other conference and it will continue to win as long as it does so.

I get rooting hard for your team. What I don't get is rooting for a conference.

How can you have a favorite team, a second favorite team and a third favorite team from the SEC?

As retarded as some of these posts are, I think the point is they play football outside of the SEC and maybe the SEC isn't as dominant as some of us would like to think.

LSU and Florida losing to supposedly inferior competition sort of makes the case.

I think ND may make that case on Jan 7.

I sure hope you mean Michigan. Georgia led by 2 touchdowns almost the entire fourth quarter.

There should not have been six teams in the top ten. The BCS rankings are as off as the reporting on Obama.

Really none of the loses were that surprising. All 3 teams, MSU, LSU and Florida have crappy offenses with their defenses matched against talented offenses. Any defense that stays on the field too long will eventually give up points. A solid team has a good balance between offense and defense; the teams that lost do not.

I said it last night and I'll say it again, the SEC is slowly turning into a basketball conference.

UF: BBall > FBall program.
Vandy: While FBall is improving, BBall still > FBall.
UT: BBall program > FBall program
Mizzou: BBall > FBall
Auburn: FBall in no bowl and BBall just won a good game.
LSU: FBall trending down and BBall trending up.
Arky: FBall is a mess, MA has BBall trending up.
Miss St: Well both are dumpster fires.
Ole Miss: High Mediocrity in BBall, Low mediocrity in FBall.
UK: BBall > FBall.

Jury is still out on UGA and USCe. While they weren't exactly impressive in their bowl wins, they did win and their BBall programs are just horrible.

Bama and A&M are the only 2 schools that can clearly say their FBall programs are better than their BBall programs.

SEC Dominance

Some facts (I did this quick so let me know if I made mistakes):

SEC head to head against BCS conferences so far:

ACC: 6-2 (wins over FSU, GT, Clemson, Wake, and NC State (twice); losses to Clemson (twice))

Big 10: 3-2 (wins over Nebraska and Michigan (twice); losses to Northwestern (twice)

Pac 12: 2-0 (wins over Arizona St and Washington)

Big 12: 0-1 (loss to Texas)

Big East: 0-4 (losses to Louisville (twice), Syracuse, and Rutgers)

Right now that's only 11-9. If Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Alabama can win it would be 14-9 against BCS conferences and ND, which would be respectable but not exactly dominant. Throw in a 7th BCS title in a row would certainly bolster the argument that the SEC is still the best.

On the flip side if Ole Miss, A&M and Alabama were to lose, the record would be 11-12, BCS title streak over, and there would be an all out media celebration that the SEC dominance is in fact over.

Big East has owned the SEC historically.

Not that that makes me feel any better about last night

I think we'll do well, no doubt. But being dominant is another thing.

I think bama wins and that will be 7 in a row. What has to happen for you to say the SEC isn't dominant?
