This isn't going to happen. The Big XII is struggling to find ways to 1.) increase revenues and 2.) improve perceived quality on the field without expansion. There is literally nothing in it for the SEC or any other conference outside of the ACC to join in this "scheduling alliance" with the Big XII. What is stopping these teams from scheduling games now? Slive is too smart to fall for this bullshite.

Seems to me like Slive thinks a stable Big 12 is good for the SEC.

Come on. There is nothing similar to beating tu and beating rice

But when you factor the risk of playing each of those, for me it washes out.

If we can build on this season and become a perennial force in the SEC, there just isn't a whole lot to gain by beating Texas. You'll already be perceived as the state's best program.

Yeah there's the person satisfaction from beating Texas. But we can learn to have that by beating LSU :nb424-19:

Personal satisfaction for beating our century old arch rival is good enough for me

It might just be me, but i had 0 connection to the state of texas till a week before classes started 18 months ago. But you know what? I still watched the tu/a&m game every year. Cause it was good football. The game opened me up to texas and ultimately a&m. Both sides need to get over themselves. The game is good for the state

And whatever satisfaction you lose by settling for LSU is offset by not subjecting yourself to the risk of losing grasp of the state.

I think you are misunderstanding me. Im not calling for the game to come back immediately. Im saying it, and it will, should come back eventually

There's nothing unstable about the Big12 today. The grant of rights has assured their survival until it expires in 12 years.

If they'd ever play us that would instantly be a white hot rivalry. Oklahoma is as close as we have to a natural rival, the sidewalk fans on both sides would turn it into a thing of greatness.

I'd pay good money to watch that rivalry develop.

No thanks. We'll pass. Been there, done that.

If it's required, we would consider TCU for the DFW media but his whole thing looks like a life line for the Big XII-2.

EDIT: RGIII still has nightmares about the Aggie defense. We have his number.

It's not cowardly it's smart.

Until we get the one thing that will truly make us equals in the state (a national title) frick making the path to that goal any harder. SMU and Rice all the way.

Once we get a title and they are forced to the table as equals then maybe we talk about resuming the game.

This is a discussion about entering an agreement with the big 12 now.

We all know the game is coming back eventually. But we don't need to go looking for it.

And holy hell it's a pragmatic approach.

If you'd remove your head from the arse of the Big 12, you'd understand that.

We have a full plate right now. There's nothing to gain from playing them in the immediate future. What you call cowardice and arrogance, I call reasonable and practicable.

And why the hell do I care if the Big 12 is the (distant) second best conference? It's inferior.
