SEC could not force Florida's hand

I am disappointed that the game was not played, but the SEC could not force Florida to play this game in Florida, nor could the force them to play it elsewhere.
The SEC does not have the power to force players, and staff to leave their homes in this situation.
Many players, coaches, staff members possibly have family members all over the state of Florida.
Their obligation is to their families. As an LSU fan, no atletic authority is gonna force me to leave my family to play a football game, this is a personal issue.
Regardless of whether the Florida Administration used it to their advantage or not, makes no difference.
The state of Florida was in a state of emergency, that trumps everything.
Whine about it all you want, this is the forum to do that, but you sound pathetic.
Prayers for all of Florida and their families.

So that means you must believe if the game were originally scheduled in BR it also would have been cancelled? Disagree.

Thank you for showing class, in the midst of mob mentality.

Yeah no. How is it that every other game in the area is finding a way to play? UF simply knew they would lose so used this as an excuse

I believe it's a personal safety issue, each should decide in favor of what they feel is in the best interest of their family.

I know there are sensible LSU fans out there, glad to see some of you trying to be voice of reason while the numerous irrational fricktard paranoid pussies continue with the SEC is against us bullshite.

So, if Florida had an away game this weekend they would have cancelled that too? Because that is what you are saying.
This happens all the time and the team leaves a day early because of the storm.
What a horrible precedent has been set here, especially when LSU was willing to travel to the storm. The "be with your families in the midst of the storm" rationale has never been used before. It is absurd.

I just love the scared little aTm fans all up in these threads. Trust me, if I were yall and couldn't seem to ever beat LSU, I would be wanting this too. But I probably wouldn't be showing my concern by having faux feelings of empathy towards the storm victims. The game being played and the storm affecting people are mutually exclusive events. One can be concerned about the people and still pissed that these pussies backed out of a game

Seriously? So if some of the players or staff members actually had family members hurt or in need of help in another part of the state, they should just say duck it, we have a game to play?
Maybe the team should just say frick you, get your priorities in order, and maybe just leave them behind to go play a game?
Dumb as a fence post you are.

You probably weren't following LSU in 2005 then. They had family members living in their dorm rooms and sh*t. Families displaced all over. Still played every single game. Not one, but two hurricanes. Still played. Played a home game away, played a home game on a Monday night. Still played. High schools and thousands of homes got destroyed in Baton Rouge earlier this year. They still played. Don't believe me? They were getting ready to play a week after the storm, most of them without homes. High school kids without homes, without a high school, still played.
High school kids.....
Stop being a huge p*ssy.

While I agree they could not force florida's hand, there's no doubt florida doesn't care about player, fan, or staff safety.
If UF actually cared, they would have postponed the game on Tuesday, when everyone knew this storm was coming, instead they waited and tried to parlay this into an advantage.
As everyone knows the ramifications of a storm, there was no doubt on Tuesday this would be logistically challenged, UF (if they really cared) should have cancelled on then,
