So it was either Saban or Les talking anonymously about his own team.

I think it's a good bet that not a single one of these involved an actual HC, though.

I wonder why Alabama didn't get many responses?

The coach who brought up Payne is spot on. Alabama fans noticed him last year, but he has a chance to scare the shite out of the SEC this year. If he can be consistent, Alabama's defense will have damn near zero drop off from last season. He played limited snaps, but Payne absolutely mauled fools last year.

When you’re wearing out a little bit physically in November, that’s the last team you want to see because they’re not going to stop pounding it and they’re just huge up front. If you can catch them early in the year when you’re at full strength you have a better chance.”

I'd bet that was Gus. I think he feels the difference between OM and Auburn the past two years has been our defense

Love a coach calling Chad Kelly "extremely immature" and using his life before Oxford as the reasoning. He definitely used to be a shithead and do a bunch of stupid stuff (his rap career, the nightclub incident, etc.), but he's been very successful at keeping a low profile around Oxford and staying out of trouble otherwise since arriving. I'd be pretty surprised and disappointed if he were to get like a DUI or something between now and whenever he leaves town, especially now that Uber's finally in town. Not saying he's a saint, but he's not pulling JFF-esque off-field stunts either.

Georgia doesn't have a single good linebacker? Someone needs to be fired if he believes that.

Bama played them last year and they beat Auburn in the Outback bowl in Jan. of 2015

I don’t know if anyone has deserved SEC Coach of the Year more than Jim McElwain last year because they coached their everloving tail off on offense to get as close as they got (to a championship). They just didn’t have the same talent as anyone else on offense in that league. Their offensive line was extremely weak and losing the quarterback killed them, but let me tell you, they are tough schematically because of all the shifts and motions. We played them with Will Grier, and we just had so much trouble. Out of the first 44 snaps they gave me 38 formations, and he was really, really good. I never really felt like I could get a bead on what they were doing. …

“They’re certainly talented across the board, but they need to get Brandon Harris or somebody else to give them more consistent quarterback play. Like, we just begged them to throw it. We loaded the box on Leonard Fournette, and they really struggled. It’s not like some big secret. If you don’t have a quarterback in this league, good luck.”

This sounds a lot like something Bielema would say.

I was surprised by the Dobbs comment. I think he will be one of the best QB's in the league this year. He is smart, talented, and the leader of that team.

We are joking about any head coaches being involved in this Athlon Sports interview right?

I would think that the quotes could come from anyone on the coaching staff, honestly.
The head coach isn't any busier than any of the other coaches this time of year. I think it would mostly depend on the personality of the coach and whether or not he WANTED to be interviewed. Bielema seems to enjoy being interviewed. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of those quotes are his. He is a pretty personable dude.

And this one sounds like Les Miles to me. Sorta incongruent. "Feast or famine, like Johnny Manziel?"

Now let's play "who said it?"...

No doubt in my mind that Saban said the offensive line comment about Tennessee.

I can't figure out who said the (very ignorant) comment about Dobbs.

Well given all the 'this is it for Butch with all the off the field issues (ya know that stuff we don't have anymore), he's got to beat Florida, they've been better for two years (complete lie though we were better last year), Dobbs is a question mark yadda yadda,' that's a fair enough guess. That whole bit was total nonsense all the way around so the obvious answer is either someone who hates us or someone who is a complete ignorant n00b but it doesn't have to be a head coach.

Given the amount of trash talk we've seen and heard from Florida players lately, I'd say their coaches are talking plenty about us.
