Les Miles doesn't play to blowout teams, he plays to win. Shows in this.

edit: I wish we destroyed more teams.

CMR and UGA refuse to run up the score. Never bet to cover the spread when UGA is playing. Ever...

Shouldn't... we essentially always play teams close, good or bad. Last year 12-10 against Auburn comes to mind. Ole Miss and Arky... With obvious exceptions of course... Florida 2008...

Same thing with USC. If we get the lead and the defense is playing lights out we will run the ball and run the clock out. You saw that against UGA last year where we only threw the ball 10 times.

Yep, absolutely. He's perfectly fine with beating a I-AA team by 20 something as long as he gets to play all his depth. I would go to bet a very good lot of those ATS "losses" were against teams we were favored by more than 2 TDs against.

I actually think most teams in the SEC do this.

Best performance against the spread: LSU vs. #9 Va Tech in 2007.

Line: LSU -13

Final score: 48-7

ETA: Tiger Rant takeaway, "I can't believe we let Tyrod Taylor score. He's Glennon's backup for crissakes. RABBLERABBLERABBLERABBLERABBLE"

But has Richt ever called for the offense to take a knee with 5 minutes left in a game?

Here's a game of more recent vintage: A&M vs. Arkansas, 2012

Line: A&M -13.5

Final score: 58-10

However, I didn't put nearly enough on the game.

Historically, two of the biggest underachievers in the SEC. Can't say I'm shocked with these results.

I think the same could be said about Saban. And, it's not just I-AA teams either.

Miles/Saban like to take the opportunity to play their 2nd-3rd stringers as much as possible to build up depth. If a coach has the luxury of playing back-ups vs teams like Michigan/Arky/Tennessee/MSU/Auburn/NotreDame in a single season, then all the better for the future.

OP,

For shits and giggles, could you share with us Bret Bielema's record against the spread while head coach at Wisconsin?

You can. To much for me to look up while I prepare for the dolphins to take over the world.

Normally, this is sage advice. That is, except when you employ the same strategy for the 2012 Chicken Bowl.

I was forced to reload my Bovada account in time for the Cotton Bowl.

I think you're missing a point often missed by the average fan that will place a wager.

You are more apt to win $$ based on an Les Miles coached team than you are a Nick Saban coached team according to that chart. You just need to know which way to go - which means don't bet your heart.

So, you're only counting SEC games played in the regular season?
