Your nominees are James Franklin, Kevin Sumlin, and Will Muschamp.

Really, A&M was going to have trouble wining 1-2 games this year in the SEC.

Agreed. It's the equivalent of giving David Cutcliffe COY in 2003 because of what Eli Manning did.

Sumlin. A lot of what he has done has been lost in the shuffle as well.

He came in and shored up and improved A&M's recruiting class immediately.

He made the controversial move to bump Spring Practice 8 weeks so that the team could focus on conditioning.

He managed to keep a humble yet confident demeanor with all of the SEC into stuff he and the team went through.

He got hit with the hurricane reschedule right off the bat and got UF as his first ever game with a new QB.

He had to play 12 straight weeks with no bye week and had a stretch of 5 road games in 6 weeks in the middle of the season.

He went undefeated on the road.

His only 2 losses were by a combined 8 points.

Oh, and he had a 10 win season and beat Bama in Tuscaloosa while coaching the first ever Freshman Heisman winner.

Franklin has been excellent as has Boom but neither had to overcome what Sumlin has this season. Freeze has done a very good job but in the end Ole Miss is still just 6-6.

Your candidate for SEC Coach of the Year, Kevin Franklin:

I would give it to Muschamp over Sumlin simply for the great halftime adjustments Florida made all year. A&M was the complete opposite and nearly blew several big leads.

Muschamp 11-1 with the toughest schedule and a crap offense.
Of course I am biased but any of the 4 of Muschamp, Sumlin, Franklin and Freeze would be worthy.

Mushcamp needs consideration.
But it's Sumlin.

I agree with this. And I'd pick Boom.

Freeze has an empty cupboard. Franklin is doing well at Vandy. Sumlin has the best player in college football. The other two guys don't have players like that.

Florida had a great defense last season.
We all knew that they were going to have a great defense this season.
I don't see this amazing coaching job that Muschamp did with the recruits that Florida is able to bring in.

Don't get me wrong, I'm the one who agreed that he needs to be in the mix.
But his job wasn't nearly as hard as Sumlin.

Freeze wasn't left with the empty cupboard everyone thinks. They were all just smoking dope and in to mischief. All the needed was some discipline. Nutt brought in good cruitin classes.
