SEC bowl games - has something changed?

In the past it seemed more often than not that SEC teams were playing "up" against their opponents, like the matchup would be SEC #3 vs. Big 12 #2, SEC #4 vs. ACC #2, etc...

This season it seemed more like we were playing "down." Did the bowl selection process change, is my perception off, or was this year just an aberration?

I was thinking the same thing. LSU and Arkansas definitely played down on the poor Big 12.

Auburn (2-6) vs Memphis (5-3)
MSU (4-4) vs NC St (3-5)
A&M (4-4) vs Louisville (5-3)
UT (5-3) vs Northwestern (6-2)
UF (7-1) vs Mich (6-2)
Ole Miss (6-2) vs Ok State (7-2)
UGA (5-3) vs PSU (4-4)
Arky (5-3) vs KSU (3-6)
