Ohio State has an easy schedule? LOL!!! Okay...

Bucknuts outside of B1G games and MACrifice games

2008 Southern Cal finished 12-1
2009 Southern Cal finished 9-4
2010 Miami finished 7-6
2011 Miami finished 6-6
2012 Cal finished 3-9
2013 Cal finished 1-11
2014 VPI finished 7-6
2015 VPI
2016 Oklahoma
2017 Oklahoma
2018 TCU
2019 TCU

To be fair to Bucknuts, they schedule teams with good past history but they sure do seem to have a knack for playing them when they are down. If this holds by the time they play OU in 16 / 17 and TCU in 18 / 19 I would be taking Bucknuts in Vegas.

17 - @UCLA
18 - Clemson
19 - @Clemson
20 - Colorado
21 - @ Colorado
22 - no one yet
23 - no one yet
24 - Notre Dame
25 - @Notre Dame

SEC Beefing Schedule

This thread wasn't what I was expecting. I thought the SECN was going to start broadcasting some Ag competitions.

Damn that was a good one.

The SEC smartly spreads the cupcakes around the whole season, rather than playing them all at the beginning. Provides better games throughout the season

UT has always done this and UF equally so because of the FSU game. In the last 5-7 year I would say the majority of the SEC has done well on this front.

Not many good games that week. I guess I should have just said I wish they would get rid of FCS schools like other conferences have done

I do like how they start their conference schedule early

What many fail to realize outside the SEC footprint is that most of those FCS schools are SoCon teams and the SoCon is where most all the SEC teams came from. Would not surprise me to see an unwritten agreement to schedule SoCon teams for this reason.

I can respect history in that sense. I don't like it but can fully respect it

Boise - Only played b/c it was Nutt's former team.
Troy - I didn't cherry pick years, so we have Troy.
Rutgers - So it's okay now that they're in the B1G?

Agreed

The one thing I would like the SEC to change is the cupcake week before rivalry week.

lulz ... I mean yeah, it really made a lot of sense for SCAR during the heyday of the Eastern Division all through the 90s and well into the 2000s, to schedule as their last three games every season, Tennessee, Florida and Clemson.

We called it the Orange Crush and no one in the country would have survived it any better than we did back in those days.

That was a smart move by the SEC ... not. But we were the sacrificial lamb back then.

No, the SEC is fine tuning the scheduling right now by working with the different AD departments within the league and the home office in B-ham when they find a willing sacrifice out-of-conference who wants to try their hand against the SEC during the regular season.

SCAR has been dipping into the ACC for years because we had old rivalries worth doing against UNC and NC State to go-along with our yearly tilt against the taterheads.

We tried for years to schedule Notre Dame but they refused ... even Lou tried but was unsuccessful. They claimed they had everything to lose and nothing to gain ... which was a lame excuse.

We recently had Ga Tech scheduled but one of us cancelled - I'm not sure why, I can't remember.

We've got UNC, UCF and Clemson this year ... that's plenty tough enough for most when you add the SEC schedule. SCAR has never had anything to apologize for when it comes to scheduling.

Didn't know this was a schedule justification post...let me go back to UT's list for the same timeframe:

2002 - Miami
2003 - @ Miami
2004 - Notre Dame
2005 - @ Notre Dame
2006 - Cal
2007 - @ Cal
2008 - @ UCLA
2009 - UCLA
2010 - Oregon
2011 - Cincinnati
2012 - NC State
2013 - @ Oregon
2014 - @ Oklahoma

2011 & 2012 stand out as weak among the rest of the schedules.
