Prior to the season, experts said the SEC will be better this year. That is not the case. If anything it got worse. How does it get fixed? I do see teams getting better . We need to have more than one consistent team. I thought it would be florida but maybe not.

I think the Mike White experiment will fail. With that said, the SEC does seem to be getting better, but it will take time.
LSU and MSU were disappointing this year for sure.

Ole Miss will need to add some more but we could have a better all around team but we won't have anywhere near a Moody level player.
Where do you put State? I know they will be improved but what are you expecting? I don't really follow other schools in basketball at all so just wondering what you think.

While I seen a slight improvement this year, I don't see it as much of an improvement to start seeing a drastic rise in recruits wanting to come to the SEC. I think the biggest hurdle to cross is being able to attract the 1 and dones to come to teams besides Kentucky.
Prime example is how the whole Simmons fiasco turned out at LSU this year. I think CBB players should have to stay at least 3 years before going to the draft. It would improve the product in college as well as the NBA.

I agree that there has been some improvement, especially compared to the real low point of 2012 or so. Even if there were not many NCAA tournament teams, there were 8 or 9 teams "on the bubble" most of the season that picked up good OOC wins.
Compare that some recent seasons where that many teams had sub 200 RPIs and it is a lot better.
I'm not really sure the SEC getting more one and dones is the answer as much as just getting better "basketball players" as opposed to "raw" athletes.
I'm just a casual observer but feel like a lot of SEC teams need a few more fundamentally sound players coming in each year instead of so many 'athletes' that look as though they've actually never been coached a minute before arriving.

Completely disagree. What's the point in keeping a player like Anthony Davis or Karl Anthony Towns in college for three years when they're clearly ready for the NBA?

I like the idea of a player either gose pro straight out of high school or he has 2 years in college minimum.

I am not so sure that the Big 12, Big 10 and PAC 10 were not over-rated and the SEC was under-rated. Maybe just a factor of the parity currently in the college game.

Simple, to improve the product for both the player, and the institutions.
Imagine if Simmons had 2 more years at LSU, & Coach Jones was able to recruit other players to compliment that team. There would be time to work on character, leadership skills, & team chemistry.
Instead they got held hostage for 7 or 8 months, and now don't even know his whereabouts.

Not sure. Experience goes way down. Quality of players goes way up, but it is a bit of a crap shoot with how well high school kids transition to the college game.

This year ? Their record is probably right or possibly better . Coming into the season, majority of the fan thought with Newman and Coach Howland , State was a tourney team. Actually, State wasn't even close. They was behind in talent . Newman didn't pan out as projected. He wasn't the best player on the team. I'm not sure if he was even the 3rd best player on the team. 2016-17, if State makes NCAA or Nit tourney it's a success. It's a lot depending on that. Does Newman or Q stay or do they declare? State is on the rise for sure.

What's funny with basketball is that one player can dominate a game. Where would LSU be without Simmons? Ultimately, it didn't matter but everybody thought they would battle Kentucky for the top spot. Where would Oklahoma be with Hield?

State is on the way up that is for sure.
How dose the recruiting classes look for the SEC this year? I know Ole Miss' class is lacking around 55th.

I think 7th Nationally and 2nd in conference. Of course, we are behind Kentucky.

What the hell is UF doing?

Yeah I did not expect UF to be in such bad shape recruiting.

There was some improvement among teams who haven't been very good on a consistent basis (i.e. South Carolina). Unfortunately we had some middling to upper end teams that struggled like Arkansas, Florida, and Vandy. That will right itself with possible coaching changes/pressure to improve.
You have some teams that are moving on the right direction like Barnes with Tennessee and Howland with State. They just weren't going to turn things around in one season.
