I think the middle of the conference is anybody's guess at this point

Can we assume that by middle of the conference you mean 3 thru 14?

Yep, pretty much.

I think that within the next couple of weeks the bottom will become more solid too, but the teams in the middle - say, 3-11 - are a crap shoot, IMO.

I don't think we're THAT bad. Last year's team would be 9-6 at best under the current games.

You think? I don't think this team is as good as last year, not at all. At least not so far. Lot of talent there, but they aren't playing as a team very well yet.

Remember all the close games we lost last year? SO FAR we're winning them this year (leave the IL & GA games out). I think the team is trying to find it's permanent starting 5 & rotation. Jones & Post need to learn some offensive skills but both can rebound the ball. ER is beginning to drive more and shoot less 3s. No Flip and his bad decisions is huge plus.

We may be winning most of them, but we're playing to the level of the opponent instead of playing our game. Most of those games shouldn't have been close - that they were, repeatedly, says we're not playing well. IMO, of course.

Fair point & this worries me too.

More than anything I think its a sign of lack of emotional maturity and focus. It's pretty classic in all of sports to see teams full of freshmen and newcomers not be mature enough to get "up" for lesser opponents and play as hard as they do in the "big" games that they know are on national TV against name brand opponents and such.

What Mizzou has discovered, in extremely painful fashion, is that they are NOT talented enough to just show up and get the W against lesser teams. They'd been building the habit of winning those sorts of games by single digits and it finally bit them vs Georgia, which theoretically they could have learned from. The fact they responded by barely eaking out yet another close one against another lower tier conference team this past weekend I think is a real, real bad sign. If losing at home to frickin' Georgia isn't enough to light a fire under you and make you want to go play nasty defense and dominate, what will? At this point it almost feels like we've already seen the first 39 minutes of Mizzou's upcoming game at Vandy this week, the only question being what drama will unfold in who's favor in the last minute.

I'm done trying to understand Tennessee. A&M might turnout alright this season, but Tennessee is better than that.

Big game tonight for Arkansas.

Aggies move up six slots from 12 to 6.

I can't help but think this is how a snake oil salesman feels when people are getting hooked onto crap.

Pretty much the truth. You'll have so many split series by the end of the year and so many transitive property wins over teams that you lost to and such that it is almost impossible to ever get it truly correct.
