SEC PITCHER OF THE YEAR - Aaron Nola, LSU

Nola good...but Stanek's SEC ERA should have given him the edge imo.

Nola must have a pretty good ERA
Nola has a 1.94 and Stanek has a 1.40

Not sure what Beede's is

Nola's WHIP was much better. It's really splitting hairs.

Nola being undefeated and having the 3 complete games in a row was probably the difference. Hard to argue with the facts.

Can we use head to head if you want to say you can't argue with facts?

As was his K/BB ratio

Nola has 7.5 K/BB
Stanek has 2.17 K/BB

Also, average against:
Nola .194
Stanek .215

Sure, Nola threw a complete game win the first time he faced Arkansas, and the second time he got a no decision with a 1-1 tie.

Nola was the winning pitcher at Arkansas on April 12th..... and he had no losses on the year.

Arky fans love them some ERA. It's a shame they didn't take Arkansas' facilities into account or he'd be a shoe-in

Only pitched against each other once so you can't really use the first one.

And I'm just arguing to argue. I don't really GAF. Stanek, Nola, Beede...wouldn't make a difference, they are all deserving.

Have you seen his SEC ERA? You can't tell me that's not impressive this year.

They were basically equals in their one game against each other.

BTW, at anyone who tries to make a point using Arkansas' ERA

Let's look at total runs instead:

Nola has given up 23 runs in 102 innings for 0.225 runs/inning

Stanek has given up 22 runs in 90 innings for 0.244 runs/inning

Actually, these are regular season honors, so the H2H matchup is the one that isn't being counted.

OM, UF, Aub are not exactly big hitters. MSU and USC, props.

Not considering who his competition was. SEC was stacked with pitching this season, tough break. Sure, his stats are nice and I'd love to have him pitching for OM, but he just didn't do enough to get the nod over some others who were truly spectacular this season.

I'm arguing with Crow Pie's "facts"...not why he was picked over Stanek.

I could get picky and say Nola was pitching against the shittiest hitting team in the SEC vs. Stanek going against #1.

Also, for as good as Stanek was this year, and he was very good, he only won 6 games (and lost 2) in 12 appearances.

Again, 10-0 and the three straight complete games was a factor here.
