MS, AR, and SC are all Deep South-style states. So let's call that a push. I'm sure their campuses are beautiful, but are they really trying to say there is more entertainment and more stuff to do in those college towns compared to a small city?

Fan support? SC is of equal size if not bigger than all of those schools. OM splits it's fan base with MSU like we do with Clemson, Mizzou fans care more about pro baseball. We're known for showing up when we're bad.

Tradition. Why? Because we've always been bad. But none of those schools have some kind of "historical lure" about them that would make it preferable to coach at.

SC's stadium is bigger than all of them, and has been completely redone over the past years.

We have plenty of in-state talent.

If rather coach at A&M over LSU. Half of LSU fans want their good coach fired. Sumlin got a fat contract with a fraction of the results

Over the last three seasons, he has the same number of wins as Les, more top 5 finishes, more bowl wins, more Heisman Trophies, more wins over Arkansas, more wins over Alabama, and he cherry picks whatever member of Les's coaching staff he wants.

The MSA that Fayetteville falls into went over 500,000 this past year.

So marginally better results in a limited timeframe? He had the best player that will probably ever come through the school and peaked at what? 3rd in the west? He's also not beaten LSU since you like to cherry pick stats about H2H.

All that said, I don't think Sumlin has done much more the last 3 years than Miles. And Sumlin is worshipped in that fanbase and half of LSU wants Miles gone even though he has won them titles.

Fair assessment. Both coaches have won the exact same number of games since Sumlin's arrival.

Eh, I'm just going to sound like a homer, but South Carolina is too low when compared to Missouri, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.

Aggy is always looking for a reason to prod at and make his seat warm.

Yeah thats the point...the other guy threw stuff like a top 5 finish and victories over Arky to try to prove Sumlin > Miles. My point being they've done about the same and the A&M fanbase is a lot easier than the LSU to please. Therefore I'd prefer to coach at a place with more job security. Same reason I'd rather coach at UGA than UF or Bama.
