Well now you're trolling so pls PC

Our 2012 team was garbage and had the most misleading record of a State team that I can remember. We got bitch slapped by every team with a pulse and quite literally just quit in some of those games, mainly Bama & A&M.

The 2013 team started slow with the bullshite Russell/Dak switch offense but as the season progressed it was obvious the team was a lot mentally tougher and physical than the previous one. We played the top two teams in the SEC in Bama and AU until deep in the 4th. And although the quality of competition wasn't stellar, winning our last three games was a huge improvement over the 1-5 skid last season.

With Dak having the reigns of the offense finally and a young defense who finished in the top 5 in the SEC there is a good bit of reason to be optimistic. 12-0? No, but 9-3 and a good bowl is possible.

Dan Mullen wears receiver gloves to catch that crystal ball we'll be winning this season!

Y'all lose that Egg Bowl, and Mullen's on the hot seat. Y'all win it, and he's Oktibbeha's hunchbacked Jesus.

That's the biggest crock of shite I have ever seen. He wouldn't be on the hot seat cause we lost to y'all. He'd be on the hot seat because he didn't make a bowl. Don't confuse our excitement of making a bowl with our excitement of beating Ole Miss because the first is definitely more important.

QB rating was an abysmal 126.6 last season.

Dak's QB Rating last year - 80.7, Adjusted QB Rating - 85.7

Bo's QB Rating last year - 63.4, Adjusted QB Rating - 72.1

If you want to talk Passer Efficiency Rating you should say so in your post.

The offense is a bit up in the air, but this will be the best defense that Muffin has had so far. Pair that with several teams breaking in new QB's and we could take down some folks.

Who was the last team to tear down the goal post after winning an egg bowl?

how big of a hit did the SCAR game have on his stats? that was brutal.

I was shocked at how poorly he played in that game.

Then again, he didn't have time to throw the entire game.

28/43, 65.1%, 235 yards, 0 TDs, 3 INTs
15 carries, 78 yards, 5.2 YPC, 2 TDs

If y'all can take away that game when analyzing his stats, we should be able to take away the Egg Bowl when analyzing Bo's

One thing I will say I am impressed with about DP15 is that he did not fumble in 2013 despite carrying the ball 134 times.

I'm listing the actual QB rating ("passer efficiency"). I don't use the ESPN "QB Rating" stat that they have yet to publish a formula on.

Statistics are facts, not opinions. The ESPN "QB Rating" is opinion-driven.

he had shitty cirumstances leading into that game, he played a lot better vs A&M.

that game was ugly but the silver lining was the defense. they didn't quit and roll over like the 2012 Wilson led abortion. Chris Wilson should mail Fletcher Cox a check with six figures for extending his shelf life as a DC one year past when it should have been over. He was pretty much the reason our 2011 defense was quasi-salty.

Only reason Bo sucked against Mizzou and State is because he had the flu.

Dominated every other game.

Considering they fired their last three coaches because of the Egg Bowl records I'm not worried about any OM poster telling me our season rides on the Egg Bowl. Nutts, Ogre and Cutt all fired cause they lost that Egg Bowl too many times.

State bases their expectations of the up coming season on whether or not they won the egg bowl the previous season. It's the reason they will never win shite.

It's what Bill Connelly calls "The West Virginia effect." People tend to remember and hype up teams who had a strong finish to their season, especially if they had a big win in their bowl game.

Louisville last year benefitted from this after beating Florida in the Sugar Bowl. Ole Miss was definitely the team which benefitted from this in 2009 after the Cotton Bowl. Basically, it shows that football fans and pundits have short memories.

Dak and State were incredible against Rice in the Liberty Bowl. They still lost six games, and struggled against Bowling Green and Kentucky. They needed overtime to beat a terrible Arkansas team and an Ole Miss team that played the worst game of its season (and, remember, they were the UNDERDOGS at home in a rivalry game against a second-year SEC head coach).

Thing is, State's schedule is EASY as shite this year. They should win 7 or 8 games, go bowling, and improve on last year. That's pretty much it. Bookmark it, write it down, if I'm wrong I'll buy you a snow cone.

No joke. I had since forgotten about Prescott's mom/storyline before that game. And I have no doubt that it played a major factor in his poor play that day.

I clearly didn't mean to be callous and flippant about a guy losing his mother. It's ridiculous to insist otherwise.

Uh, what?

Nutt went 2-10 in his last year. He was fired before the Egg Bowl was even played. LINK

Orgeron never had a winning season, so Egg Bowl or not he wasn't going to stick around for year 4.

And Cutcliffe. Oh boy, you're going to love this. David Cutcliffe actually WON his last Egg Bowl. He WON the damn thing. In fact, he was FOUR OUT OF FIVE against State in his last five years in Oxford.

Can you believe that? Four out of five! For y'all, that's bragging rights! For us, that still gets David Cutcliffe fired.

Cutcliffe was fired because he was loyal to his staff and wouldn't let them go after he went 4-7. It was definitely a mistake by Ole Miss given who they hired, but oh well.

What posters here are seriously saying otherwise? Most expectations are 8-9 wins before a bowl.
