To have our last game this season and first game next season be NC state would be boring IMO

We won't go to Texas. If we aren't Sugar, which I doubt but we are technically in today, then we go to a Florida Bowl. The Citrus is apparently looking hard at us and Tenn

Washington would be a favorable matchup. tOSU would be pretty even, but Bama should win a close one.

Right now auburn is in. It could get ugly, though, as we play bama, UF plays them and fsu... so the thinking here is losses for those two and tenn beats vandy

Don't see that working out that way. Bama-UW but not Bama-OSU. I think Wisky or Michigan get the Big Ten bid. Penn State is still not liked nationally for obvious reasons and Buckeyes won't win their division, let alone their conference. They may even drop to Michigan, who can run the ball and OSU can't stop the run. What I don't see is all the love for three loss USC. They might not even be Rose Bowl worthy but the talking heads say they belong in the CFP?? GTFO

Let's go Vandy and FSU. Still holding out hope for the Sugar.

Will this year's Sugar Bowl, whether it's AU, UF, or UT, team be the most underwhelming ever?

No. Highest ranked.

Non-playoff bowl selection criteria[edit]
In the two out of three years when a given New Year's Six bowl is not part of the playoff bracket, the highest-ranked non-playoff teams from the following conferences or groups are selected as follows:[38][39]

Rose Bowl — Big Ten #1 vs. Pac-12 #1
Sugar Bowl — SEC #1 vs. Big 12 #1
Orange Bowl — ACC #1 vs. SEC #2, Big Ten #2, or Notre Dame
Cotton Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)
Fiesta Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)
Peach Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)
The highest-ranked champion from the "Group of Five" conferences (The American, C-USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, and Sun Belt) is guaranteed a berth if the group's top team is not in the playoff.[38][39]
The remaining five at-large bids are determined by committee rankings.[38][39]
If the Big Ten or SEC champion is available for a non-playoff bowl in a year when the Rose and Sugar Bowls are hosting semifinals, that team appears in either the Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, or Peach Bowl, but not the Orange Bowl.[39]
In the Orange Bowl, the SEC and Big Ten are guaranteed at least three appearances during the eight non-playoff years, while Notre Dame can only appear a maximum of twice.[40]
In non-playoff years, if the Orange Bowl matchup creates a regular-season rematch for the ACC representative, the bowl may choose to "skip over" the prescribed opponent from the SEC/Big Ten/Notre Dame group and select the next highest-ranked team from the group. The team that was rejected would be placed in one of the three at-large bowls, if it meets ranking standards.[41]
In years when the Orange Bowl is a national semifinal, the ACC champion plays in the Fiesta or Peach bowls if it is not selected for the playoff.[42]
In choosing the pairings for the four non-playoff bowls, the committee tries to create "the most compelling matchups possible", while taking into account geography and team rematches from both the regular season and recent bowls.[38][43]

Louisville in 2013 was barely ranked in the top 25 iirc. Ole Miss was 9-3 last year too

We played Hawaii in '08 and they were pretty damn underwhelming.

The main problem for the SEC in the sugar is all the teams are really banged up. All have played like top 10ish teams this year, but all are a shell of their best version right now.
If auburn were completely healthy, I think we are good enough to play in that game

You know how I know you don't know anything?

18th in yards per game allowed. I will admit they get caught up and overpursue sometimes and that costs them huge plays. They are a team who gives up 2, 3, 1, -2, 30, 7, 4, 5, 2. They aren't consistent enough to be an elite rushing defense. They are a better pass defense, and have an elite secondary. Their front 4 is a bit small
