re: Scenario that ESPN’s Greenie is hoping for, I tend to agree with, would be poetic justice

At this point every championship has an asterisk, am I right?

That’s actually a pretty damn interesting point
Many do and many don’t, depending on the criteria. Would be a good thread discussion if handled properly.

You agree with Greenie? He said FSU should be in ahead of Texas, not Bama, based on strength of record. FSU 3, Bama 4, Texas 5.

It’s like they didn’t see how terrible the QB room is at Florida State. The last 2 games were just pitiful.

I agree that undefeated Fla State coach and players should not be punished for what any of these AD’s did.

So you start a thread quoting this guy as some kind of an expert and saying you agree with him, but now you want to cherry pick what he says. Now suddenly confronted with everything he says, suddenly you're backtracking from his expertise.

Punished? Who ought to be punished are the Michigan coaches and players.

His career went to shite after Everybody Loves Raymond went off the air.

I simply agreed with how he wants this playoff and bowl game scenario to unfold. I didn’t sign papers to adopt this person as a family member.

There’s many scenarios in this for Alabama and all but one are bad.

Ala wins out and Fla St wins out, not good.

Ala loses in the finals and Fla State wins, that’s really bad.

Ala loses in the semifinals and Fla State wins, now it’s gotten ugly.

Ala loses in the semifinals and Fla State wins by a big margin because of too many Ga players opting out. This is when Bama fans have to hide their jerseys out in public.

So if Georgia would have won, then the nation would be mad at Texas for taking the #4 spot, correct? Why aren’t they clamoring for Texas not belonging as well?

Because the thing everyone knows and isn't saying, is that had UGA won, it would be 4 undefeated P5 champs in the playoffs.

It isn't really "Bama", it's the SEC. They can't leave a 1 loss SEC champ out, because the SEC has been winning most of the titles since the turn of the century. But they can't take Alabama without taking Texas, who came into Tuscaloosa and beat them. So by Bama winning, you flip 2 slots, not just one.

This is why Texas and Oklahoma are moving to the SEC. More influencial conference, and they aren't scared of Bama (11-4-2 combined record against the Tide, and Saban won't be there much longer anyway).

Just think what could have been if LSU hadn’t shite the bed against FSU and lost to Alabama because Jayden got knocked out.

You were so close.

Actually it was. Daniels was scoring touchdown after touchdown vs Alabama. Then LSU dropped some balls and LSU’s center kept having false starts. Then the target on Daniels. But enjoy trolling LSU about that, we get a Heisman. Bama may end up with nothing.

but implied Fla State can still win a championship by beating Ga.

It would be sad to see a proud program like FSU turn into UCF and claim a championship they didn’t win.

If Alabama’s program had a similar scenario occur, Bama and their fans would do the same, as would every other SEC program.

No, UCF claims a national championship when they won the Colley Matrix, Alabama won the Colley Matrix in 2018 when we lost to Clemson, Notre Dame won it in 2012 after we smoked them, neither school claims a national championship. If FSU wants to lower themselves to claiming something they didn’t win, that’s pitiful.
The committee is doing them a favor, nobody who watched their last couple of games seriously believes they would have a chance, now they can hope you sit out enough guys and just use it as a practice game instead of having enough pride in the program to go out and represent their school and fans.

Arent a bunch of the best fsu players opting out already?

Sadly, I think this is one of those games that is turning into battle of the backups.
