Jimmy Sexton can work a major job vacancy like a fiddle.

FSU might fire him for cause though if the NCAA sanctions them.

And he wasn't even in the running.

I think he was a consideration but more or less due diligence. Some of it was to throw Sexton a bone and grease the wheels for getting the job hire done on the timeline Byrne knew was necessary to have a fighting chance to not get plundered in the portal. Sexton wants to get all his guys more money, Alabama wants a coach as soon as possible; figure it out.

I think all the names were legitimate considerations but my hunch is Sark and DeBoer were Alabama's preferences and they knew the Sark preference was more or less "Jimmy, you tell me if he's happy there because if so then we need to move on." Day 1 was working through the complications of the considerations and picking the target. Day 2 was working through broad contract bullet points.

Why is that unbelievable? Norvell is a great coach who has shown the ability to build and SUSTAIN a program.

I think Norvell is a great coach. Similar profile to DeBoer: former WR who knows how to scheme up an offense that fits his talent. I don't think either guy has demonstrated sustainment because they've bounced around a lot.

Hard to know. So far he's had two consecutive seasons at FSU of 10+ wins and two seasons at Memphis.

He might be a great one or one who can steal some success every few years in lesser conferences.

When? Where? He’s a great coach but hasn’t ever been anywhere past 4 years, he’s young. How’s he do when that cycle of coaching hires comes over 6/7/8/10 years?

There is no way in hell Alabama was gonna hire Sark. That dude is the definition of a pedestrian career.

He made a lot of fans in the right places with his tenure here in 2019-2020 not least of which being the GOAT himself.

With that said, the brain trust understood that path was mostly about Sark's comfort in Austin and it is clear he's happy there right now.
