on the SEC Network is highly addicting. I know this has been on for a while since there were interviews by Pat Dye, Howard Schnellenberger, Johnny Majors; but many more great coaches and historians and their stories.
The three episodes were 1933-1959, 1960-1970, 1971-1979. As a college football fanatic, I was easily hooked since I already know a lot of what was talked about.
One of the things I didn’t know, and made me have more admiration for these two greats was: after Kentucky defeated the overwhelming favorite Oklahoma in the 1951 Sugar Bowl, Bud Wilkinson came to the UK locker room and extended his congrats to Bear Bryant. The Bear said that was one of the things that always stuck with him and he would continue that display of sportsmanship as he continued coaching at Alabama. I liked the part where Bear would tell his players to knock them down good then extend a hand to lift them back up.
There are so many great stories and moments for the original SEC teams in these episodes. Really great content.
Oh, and now I know how Shug’s last name is pronounced. That’s a good tidbit. “Jerr-Dan.”
For any non-SEC fans, or some of my fellow Sooners want to watch something addicting about the conference we are soon joining, Saturdays Down South is it.

For
In my hometown we have a street named somebody in the same family. It should be pronounced like that but people call it "Jor-dan Lane".

They are both well done.
My first memories of sport included the all white teams in football and the all white Kentucky team playing the Texas Western team in the 1966 basketball championship.
Both of these documentaries do a great job of showing the minefields that the coaches had to go through during the time of desegregation.
I always wonder what would have happened if Doc Roane had actually started for Bama in 1967. Because if he had, then he along with the Kentucky duo would have been the first Black players in the SEC.

S/O to Dr. Flynt from AU, he did a great job in some of the episodes. Loved the bit about the 1926 Rose Bowl, and how people gathered in town squares for updates on the game because at the time, it still wasn’t even broadcast nationally on the radio. Great stuff.

Coach Bryant may have drank too much, smoked too much and his teams were as mean as snakes but he knew his craft. When another team beat Alabama he would always give credit to the other team (even Georgia Tech.)
We look forward to OU and UT coming, those games are going to be epic for the entire conference.

And Bear did this very thing in 1980 after State broke Bama's 28 game winning streak. He came to the Bulldog locker room after the game and congratulated the team.

Hard to believe ACC basketball history could be erased with this super conference setup
