This thread is just bad.

Saban has never been able to handle criticism from anyone. He is far from bullet-proof. He is a thinned skin pussy.

uh, Saban's currently 0 and 2 against up tempo offenses
but y'alls players are fat so...

Or science proves common sense, a finesse style is safer for players than his smash mouth style, his blatant hypocrisy on the issue for refusal to change to a style safer for players(HUNH) loses him recruit after recruit because momma wants his boy to be safe. He then orders Lane to dial it up as a knee nerk reaction and chaos ensues. Can't fricking wait.

If he's forced to respond to something (i.e. face-to-face question) he will and forcefully, if necessary. But you never see him taking the initiative to respond to the "clutter"...and that's exactly what he tells folks (media included).

What is illogical is how much you worship this man and are so blind to his faults. Winning football game is so important to you that you overlook what a rotten personality he has and how disdainful he is of his own fans as well as how sneaky and corrupt he's come across to the rest of college football. Trying to defend him will fall on deaf ears, bank on it.

Yes I do. I am sure of it. No one needs to tell South Carolina fans about having a coach who does not give a "fraction of a shite about what other people think". That describes the HBC way more the Saban who most definitely cares what other people think.

and being defiled by both media
LOL. Not sure if serious.Defied by media? He is on every pre-game and halftime show pushing his agenda every time Bama isn't playing for the title. The media praises Saban and makes him out to be a lot more than he is. He is trying to alter the rules to fit his style, no way around it.

Yea, like how he was so responsive as to why St. Thomas Aquinas banned him from the campus. You know the real reason, right? You do know what the "clutter" was, right?

i like Saban. i think he's done an amazing job even considered the resources that Bama has, because the situation he inherited was in shambles, including a demanding alumni base that was micromanaging. honestly, i thought Alabama would have floundered w/ the transition like UT has done post-Fulmer.
anyway, yes Saban comes off as sounding whinny because he's gone out of his way to kill HUNH. his teams don't favor HUNH, but he can beat them. personally, i hate how college football keeps changing the rules. i wish they'd go back to the 1980 rule book. but also think Nick may be a pureset of the game that involves a lot of in game coaching and adjustments, which HUNH eliminates. if HUNH takes over college football, it could permanently change the game like the NBA has screwed up basketball. i think HUNH will eventually die out like the run-and-shoot, but i'd hate to think of college football as a continuous games like soccer.

quote:Tampa, folks like you are a real piece of work! First, I/we didn't hire Saban to be our best friend. I/we hired him to be the best kick-arse football coach in the country, and that's what he is! All this bullshite denigrating his morals and character are just that...bullshite. His program is world-class. His graduation rate is exceptional and, with few exceptions, his program is about as clean as you'll find, comparing it to others its size.

Finally, he certainly hasn't asked Alabama fans to defend him. Hell, I've stated a half a dozen times that I'm not a fan of the rule change, but because he's Alabama's coach and I trust his opinion, I go along with him. For those fans who are against the rule change, that's perfectly OK, its their opinion. Bottomline, this is like any internal Alabama business, there are folks on both sides of the topic and at the end of the day, we're all still Alabama fans.

".Truth & Rumors :36 AM ET 05.21 | Nick Saban's request to visit Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas was denied by coach George Smith, who noted it was nothing personal. After Mike Shula was fired, Smith sent a letter to Alabama's athletic director and president stating Bama's coaches weren't welcome on his campus because of how Shula's dismissal ''was handled.'' Saban, who recruited South Florida well as Louisiana State's coach, didn't have a Dade or Broward player in his first Bama signing class.
Miami Herald"
What does this have to do with anything in this thread may I ask? I am an LSU follower, and admit Saban irks me, but I fail to see the connection.

Something that was not made public was that St. Thomas was fund raising to improve their athletic facilities. Saban pledged the final dollar figure that was needed to start construction. The construction commenced, Saban left Miami and St. Thomas was on the hook for the money Saban pledged but did not give. He did eventually give the money much later on. It was a significant amount, somewhere around $250,000 or more.
