Nick Saban is one of the best coaches in college football but the last coaching award was in 2009; SEC Coach of the year. Since then, he has won 3 natty's and 4 SEC Championships and not even sniffed an award. Is he hated by the voters or is winning at Bama just expected, who knows. Since Saban is out for any awards, here are my favorites for SEC Coach of the year with their record.
Miles 11-1 beats Bama loses to Ole Miss
Freeze 10-2 beats FSU loses to Bama & Arky
Jones 10-2 Beats FL loses to Bama & GA
Bielema 9-3 beats Ole Miss loses to Bama, State & LSU
Smart 9-3 beats Tenn loses to Ole Miss, FL & UNC
Mullin 9-3 beats Arky loses to Bama, Ole Miss & LSU

With this scenario, it would be tough to pick a "Coach of the Year". My vote-Kirby Smart since he would be playing in the SEC Championship as a 1st Year Coach

Good Point. Miles is loved by everyone. Of course, if he loses to Bama this year all bets are off and that 11-1 could turn into 8-4

I might be wrong but I don't think Saban gives 2 drops of monkey piss if he wins Coach of the year award... He's the best in the business and he knows it.. I believe perfection and championships are what drives the man. Not individual accolades.

Coach of the year is given to a coach that exceeds expectations. Which is why he won it in '08.

Expectations literally couldn't get any higher at Alabama. It's national championship or bust. He could win 3 NCs in a row (And almost did) and still wouldn't win COY.

Great Expectations can also get you fired i.e.. Miles, Sumlin, Jones & Malzahn. At least 1 of those 4 will be gone next year.

It's the same reason Cal doesn't get COTY every year. They have to throw the rest of you a bone. You don't get trophies for meeting expectations.

They would probably give it to Saban if he went undefeated again.

Coach of the Year usually means - A Coach who far exceeded expectations.

Given people talk trash about Alabama and Saban if we don't go undefeated and win the national championship at this point, ya hard to exceed expectations.

If Bielema loses to Ms St he won't be getting coach of the year.

Especially if his crown jewel is beating Ole Miss.

He won the Bowden Award like two years in a row just recently.

If that's the case, how was Bryant able to win SEC COTY 12 times?

The next major coaching award that is generated will be awarded in his name so I doubt that he really gives a shite.

Saban hasn't won an AP National Coach of the Year, Bear Bryant COTY or Eddie Robinson COTY award in any of our national championship years.

So, safe to say, some coach at some school everyone doesn't think will 10 games but does will win it. And Saban will just win another national championship.

Probably because it was different times.

They used to vote national champions before the bowl too.

No one is going to argue Saban isn't the best coach in CFB the last 5-10 years. Why hasn't the best coach won COY then? Shouldn't the NC winning coach win COY?
Obviously not. Best coach /= COY. This has been proven.
Only reasonable explanation is it's the coach who wasn't expected to achieve what they did that year.

I'll say we are more likely to drop OM than State now the Dak is gone.
