So there is a football team in the universe that would be interested in hiring Nick Saban. SHOCKING!

Saban will leave for some reason eventually and LSU fans will proclaim victory and rival fans will want Bama fans to meltdown. Bama fans won't.

Saban has been here six years and won 2 SEC titles, 2 national titles with a chance to win three. Bama fans won't get all butthurt.

This will happen whether Saban leaves now or retires years down the road.

I'll stick with ND until they beat Bama, and then for a while after that just to show my appreciation.

I doubt he goes back to the NFL....he has proven that he can't win there.

Point is Saban held LSU hostage until Christmas Eve when all reports doing october of that same year had him flirting with the NFL. And it just was a matter of the right offer. But he knew he was gone wayyyy before December 24. By the way that is the same year Lou Holtz stepped down at USCe and recommended Spurrier.

Now just think at the time this happenned if Spurrier had a choice between LSU and USCe. Heck Saban even recommended Houston Dale Nutt as his successor.

I don't have a problem with Saban leaving LSU for the Dolphins, he unquestionably left behind a better program than he found. Cccordingly, I still respect and appreciate what he did for the LSU program.

Now, would it have shown more class to take a different name program than one from the same division of the school he recently left? Yes, he would have been much more appreciated in Louisiana if he had left the Dolphins for Michigan, Southern Cal, Texas, FSU, or some-such instead of Alabama.

RE the OP? When he was at LSU I wanted him to stay and set cfb records at LSU. I'm sure if I was an Alabama fan today I'd feel the same way about him staying at Alabama... the Sabana Alabama job (like the LSU job he had before it) has all the necessary elements in place to succeed with no limitations as long as he wants to stay there

But I understood him wanting to try the NFL because it is a higher level of coaching. People generally just don't regard college coaches as being as good with Xs and Os as NFL coaches. And maybe he's not - Saban is a top tier recruiter, a top tier teacher, and a top tier program developer but maybe he's not a top tier Xs and Os guy and should stay in college where he won't be outclassed.

It would be idiotic if Saban left for a team with Michael Lombardi in charge of personnel decisions. Dude sucked so bad that even Belichick couldn't win with him in Cleveland.

I don't give a shite if it was 100 years ago, his name should be completely stricken from the record books and everywhere else LSU related.

You would think Nick raped Mike the Tiger or something. You're being completely ridiculous.
