“Coach Saban addressed it and just said, ‘Hey, we’re doing this regardless of your political thoughts. We’re going, just to celebrate this team. It’s an honor. And just to be able to say that you’ve gone to the White House is something that you can cherish forever,’” rising redshirt senior lineman Ross Pierschbacher said. “So, that was basically the extent of that.

“... That was the end of that. Coach Saban put that to rest pretty quick. So, it was good.”

These days, the very act of going to the White House is a political statement.

We simply need this attitude in more aspects of life. Leaders in this country are so afraid to lead.

If Saban's a Dem, then I wish more Dem's were like him.

Well, Saban is a Dem, so what statement is he making by going, exactly?

i'd let college age kids decide for themselves. Its their free time.

Plus it would save the university money if some of the kids don't go. lol

Good for Saban. Sports and entertainment are better if they stay separated from politics, at least as much as reasonably possible

Translation: I know the man's an idiot but if I have to go so do you. Now, shut up about it.

Yeah, because Alabama is worried about pennies compared to the millions they make. Dumbass.

most college sports lose money so doesn't make sense to waste money in football. Football has to keep the entire athletic department afloat. lol

Yep, the discourse in this country would be so much better if people simply acted professionally. Our current president included.

Maybe over at your house....by the way if you like your doctor then you can keep him along with your plan plus you save 2500 per year!

Would you hire as your high school coach a person that locked down his records? But you elected that fools as president.

Teams visiting the WH is a tradition that goes back over 100+ years.
It isn’t about Trump.
And it isn’t about partisan politics.
It’s about recognizing a team’s championship.
It’s unfortunate that some adults behave like juveniles over something that’s intended to be a celebration.
