Steve Spurrier said a couple of years ago,"He's only won two SECs in eight years. Now, if you had the No. 1 recruiting class every year and so forth, I don't know if he has maxed out potentially as well as he could."

The Old Ball Coach may have a point based on Saban's record outside Bama. Listed below is his conference record prior to Bama:
Michigan State ---23-16 58.9%
LSU----------------28-12 70%
Miami-------------15-17 48.8%
Overal--------- 66-40 62%

Nick Saban is a Smart man. When he was at Michigan State, he realized he couldn't get the recruits so he bolted to LSU where they welcomed him with open arms. While at LSU, he started getting the recruits and got to feeling he was a Great coach. He said frick you LSU and jumped to the NFL. In the two years he was in the NFL, he couldn't cherry pick the talent and got his arse kicked. So when Hootie came with a job offer to Bama, he couldn't wait to get to the capstone. Like I said, a smart man who was out of his league in the NFL. having to coach on a level playing field.

Gumps, you guy's are paying him over 7 million to try and keep him in T Town. Truth be known, you couldn't dynamite his arse out of that Bama HC position. So when you start beating your chest about Saban being the best of all time, keep in mind, he may not be the best in the SEC. Here's some coaches that have beaten him with lesser talent Spurrier record 3-1, Mayer 2-2, Freeze 2-1.

Meyer? You're saying Meyer beat Saban with lesser talent? Those Florida teams when Tebow was there had equal or greater talent than Bama...and the Ohio State team that beat Bama in the 2015 Sugar Bowl had 12 guys drafted in the first 4 rounds of the 2016 NFL draft, 6 of which were in the first round...

Okay, take Meyer off the table. What about Spurrier and Freeze? Did Freeze have more talent the last two years?

Show me a coach that wins all of their games every year? Teams lose games, but few teams win championships. Who gives a shite if Bama lost to Freeze the last two years? Bama has won two SEC titles and a national title those years.

So to be a great coach your criteria is winning every game they play? Pretty stiff criteria there and absolutely no coach in history would be on your list.

2 of Spurrier's 3 wins came when he was at Florida and Saban was at LSU.

Too much stupid in your post to get at, but I will point this out. Hootie Ingram hadn't been at Bama in over a decade by the time Saban arrived. Also, you misspelled Urban Meyer's name.

When Spurrier retired, he said he now wanted to be called "Old Ball Coach"

Saban had better talent than Spurrier when he was at Bama and Spurrier was at SCe when they split 2 games...but the other 2 games were Saban's first 2 years at LSU and Spurrier still at UF; they were a powerhouse and had loads of talent, equal to or greater than LSU. Florida finished each of those 2 seasons ranked higher than LSU...

The past 2 years, Freeze has had comparable talent as far as starters go, but not the depth that Saban has. Last year, they had better talent at QB...but either way, we had more overall talent and Ole Miss outplayed us...but Freeze is 2-2 against Saban, not 2-1...

Meyer and Spurrier don't have those records versus Saban because they necessarily are more talented coaches. They arguably had better talent in most of those meetings. You know, when both were coaching Florida.
