Coach of the Year Awards will always go to turnaround jobs. That's just the way it is. Nevermind that its just as hard to sustain success than it is to turn a program around for one season. Its a shame because I think Saban really did his best coaching this year.

I think Saban would care about winning COY about as much as Pop cared about winning NBA COY.

Coach Saban easily.
His team was wobbly at the start improved throughout the year and finished strong.
OTOH, MSU wobbled to the finish line. To win the COY your team should improve throughout the season.

When was the last time Saban won a COY award? 2009?

Yep. He won it in 2008 and 2009.

Agree with that.

I cannot support Saban as he no longer shows any regard for player safety.

I know this was an attempt at humor, but you do realize Alabama doesn't run hurry up, right? We run no huddle.
We were 72/128 in plays per game on offense.

No huddle offenses are very dangerous and are a significant player safety concern:
LINK
What does No Huddle Offense Mean?
A tactic on offense in which a team will follow up each play by lining up in formation quickly without huddling to call the play. These offenses tend to be much faster paced, and they can keep the defense from substituting fresh players or changing its formations. They require a quarterback who can make both play calls at the line of scrimmage and adjustments depending on how the defense reacts to the no huddle.
