quote:

"They all think they have this illusion of choice," Saban said. "Like I can do whatever I want to do. And you kind of have a younger generation now that doesn't always get told no, they don't always get told this is exactly how you need to do it. So they have this illusion that they have all these choices.

I guess the players didn't choose to drive drunk, beat up their girlfriends, or possess marijuana. Those were all just illusions of choices and they were forced to do those things.

Wow, I don't think you could have missed the point any more than this if you tried.

That's what you got from his quote?

Is that what you took from what he said?

I could not agree more with Saban on this point.

People will see what they want to see, but one has to try hard with this quote.

The main point is he's making up excuses for these dumbasses. I think you all missed MY point.

No they don't, they think they have a choice. What they have is an illusion.

I'll hop on Bama's back and ride them into town as much as the next guy but you are really trying to make something out of nothing here.

He only has a problem if he was counting on starting any of them. If not, just cut them and open up some schollies for next year.

Maybe he had an "illusion of choice" when he signed a 300 pound man that beats women

So they have this illusion that they have all these choices.

"But the fact of the matter is, is if you want to be good, you really don't have a lot of choices. Because it takes what it takes. You have to do what you have to do to be successful. So you have to make choices and decisions to have the discipline and focus to the process of what you need to do to accomplish your goals."

What he said is pretty reasonable. You have to really stretch to make something controversial out of this.

Saban appreciates your interest in his every word though.

Context is everything. Unless you're trolling in which case I guess it doesn't matter.
