LSU beat Bama in 2010, so yeah it kind of was.
Is that why Auburn won the west?

I could've sworn they went undefeated

Alabama has played LSU over twice as many times as they've played Florida.

Florida was historically not very good until the late '80s and of course into the '90s. Hardly any ranked match-ups between the two teams up to that point.

There's a lot more history between Alabama and LSU than there is between the Tide and Gators, and that's what makes things different.

Also, Florida was the one beating Alabama for the most part in the '90s, so it doesn't make too much sense to say that LSU is "your Florida."

Bottom line for me...It's an underhand disrespectful statement towards LSU from an arrogant, lying arsehole who couldn't cut it in the NFL. He left Miami with his head up his arse.

Well, the iron bowl could have been for the title if you guys didn't lose to LSU. Who knows if you still pull a huge choke job in that game if the title was on the line? One of life's little mysteries.

No butthurt sir. Bama fans are the ones saying this is NOT a rivalry. There's an entire thread currently about it. Apparently, Saban isn't in tune with the fans. He thinks its a rivalry.

Is Saban a better troll than Spurrier?

So much mad up in here. Saban was complimenting LSUs program that he built.

Saban gets trolled far more often than he trolls anyone. Absolutely not.

List of greatest football trolls:

1. Tom Brady
2. Spurrier
3. Belichick
4. Les Miles
5. Mike Leach

Meh, we've played a lot of games like we have with Ole Miss. It's mostly us beating your arse and you hating us.

It's not just the 90s, though

This whole debate has become just plain silly. Saban is only acknowledging what the rest of us know, which is that LSU and Bama have become must-beat teams when playing each other simply because both programs have national aspirations year in and year out. Even when the game isn't crucial to deciding the division title, it's important for the winning (or losing, see 2011) team's resume, boosting their ranking and put them in position to play for the NC. No, LSU isn't a "traditional" rival for Bama like UT or AU are, but it's certainly a situational one. I'm not sure why certain fans from both fanbases are so frantic to deny this. Rivalry games are good. They're exciting, they're meaningful, they're season-defining games. There's a reason teams have "rivals" and it's not just because they've been playing for a long time. It's because they want to have rivals, want opponents that are more than just the game du jour.

Honestly, it doesn't hurt anybody to agree that Bama and LSU are rivals. If one of them becomes a non-factor in the future, the "rivalry" can be dropped. No harm, no foul. But there's no reason fans can't enjoy the rivalry while it's happening.

The only one who is seriously arguing this is Genro because he doesn't care how wrong he is or how stupid he looks when he gets into troll mode. Good post.

So the question I have is, if Saban built LSU, how did he lose to LSU when he was at Michigan State? Also, why didn't he build Michigan State?

He was already building LSU and rebuilding Bama when he was at MSU. Dude is several steps ahead of everybody.

So why couldn't Bobby Williams win with Saban's players? He's on staff with you guys now, you should ask him.

Not over twice as many wins anymore!

And Alabama dominated Florida way more than they did LSU, though in not as many games.

They'd won the SEC 7 times. 4th most in SEC history before Saban arrived. LSU has had some great teams and made multiple good runs over the years long before your boy.

Ole Miss has beaten you 11 times ever.

Oh, so two more games in the 2000s? Cool.

I know how you roll when the LSU game comes around every year. You shite talk with the best of them. But at least be reasonable.

Actually, Bobby is the brains behind the whole operation. Saban is a hype man. He's Robert Plant to Bobbys Jimmy Page.

I think Kevin Steele might be Puff Daddy in this analogy.
