Uhhhh 2003 LSU national championship defense big guy

Man, you know Saban was running that defense. Muschamp's defenses at Texas are what I think is a good indicator of his true talent. Those defenses at Texas weren't world beaters. I'm sure they likely had good stats but they were competing with Big 12 offenses.

Would be pretty even imo

I thought that it was pretty even. DC would not have mattered in the outcome, the personnel are just not there right now. Muschamp had NFL caliber players on that side of the ball this year and Bama wore them out.

Auburn wins Saturday going away if they have Muschamp instead of Johnson.

ellis johnson and ted roof have proved themselves to be good to excellent DCs at different programs, were terrible opposite malzahns offense. the problem is that gus doesnt really believe that defense is important, he just thinks its an unfortunate procedural formality that takes up time between offensive series

Muschamp gave up 672 yards to Alabama this year.

Johnson only gave up 539

This. And he managed to do it with Vernon Hargreaves.

But only 42 points which is what actually determines the winner of football games, but you hypocritical Alabama fans already knew that.

Muschamp will not return to Auburn.

I'm not buying it either. Maybe he will, but I think Muschamp still is hirable as a head coach.

If he couldn't win AT FLORIDA then where is he gonna win at? I doubt he wants to go to lower tier programs seeing as he's always coached at premier programs.

Who knows? Remember that all of these guys have big egos. He did go 11-2 and get to a BCS bowl. If he wants to be a head coach at a premier program again, his best shot is to be a head coach somewhere and be successful. The difference between Muschamp and Kiffin is that absolutely no one was going to turn a program over to Kiffin. I don't think that's the case with Muschamp.

Muschamp didn't fare too well the last time he faced Bama as a DC!
