that is fine with me. you act like this is a bad thing. to be the best at something usually takes obsession. not saying he is the best but in the discussion for it.

He is, and I have no problem admitting it.

not really, but it's the truth. Until Saban actually wins something there, I'd keep the bragging in check. At least we can brag about 2 NCs this decade. Until you put the skin on the wall, you haven't.

Well we can only hope that Saban and the team will be able to get one. Right now, I am very happy with how they are progressing and I think they have a good shot at it, but we will see.

I have no problem with his obsession. He earns his money.

From eevrything hes heard, Saban has no main hobbies, or other events he does, hes just 100% football obsessed every day of the year. He goes to sleep around 11 and up between4 and 5, but its all about being perfect.

Thats fine and all, but even someone with his salary eventually reaches BURNOUT at some point. Thats my only concern.

I can identify with this mode of operation. I'm currently in it and yes you do reach burnout. However, he has a $4M+ annual incentive that most of us don't have. But the body can only take so much...especially at his age.

He was recruiting Andre Rison while an asst coach at Mich St in the mid 80's. Andre's grandmother (who he lived with) got drunk on Christmas eve and wanted Nick to come drink with her and discuss Andre. Nick left his family on Christmas eve and returned early Christmas morning (3am) I heard.

Best Nick story ever! Besides Candy Edwards. LOL

This kind of mythology, and the psychological need to create it, is as old as mankind, "Our king never sleeps and he pisses sunshine-yours sleeps till noon and is half devil".

Please Gumps.

He is going to have an aneurysm on the sidelines if he keeps getting as mad as he does.

Today, in order to be “the best” at in athletics, or anything for that matter, one must be talented first and then, has to be abnormally fanatic about what they do. I am not saying that Coach Saban is the best, but he possesses the traits from which champions are made. I don't believe it is a healthy mentality or lifestyle, but to be the TOP, nowadays, that is what it seems to take.

I have read books about Michael Jordan and Pete Maravich. If you have too, you will notice a similarity in their mentality and behavior. It is a behavior that I and most of us do not understand or desire
