It's not hard, and it's not mysterious.

The real translation of Saban's comments is "Who gives a frick about a position coach? I've got a team to run."

Way to overreach.

There really are lots of ways to take it. I kind of think it is about him leaving in general, not really about doing something to get pushed out or about where he specifically chose to go. The thing is, though, the answer is definitely vague enough to have many interpretations.

Exactly. We will all use confirmation bias to see what we want to see.

ill be honest, why isn' this ok?

They are of age, and it isn't like he is their professor or anything.
18+ not on his team let it fly.

Of course if he has a wife then thats his and her business.

Just sounds like he's upset about Thompson always leaving and going.

Actually I think Saban was extremely professional in how he handled questions about the coaches. He didn't really down anyone, and wished everyone well.

The Thompson thing didn't feel like a jab or someone he pushed out the door, it felt more like: "I have given the guy a chance, twice, when maybe he needed a chance and he has left me both times." Nick must think something of him, but there may be something about him where he can't stay too Iong at a job. We've all met people like this before - they are good, but they are never happy and eventually run out of places to go.

Even though he wished him well, I doubt Saban (even others in time) gives him another chance if he can't settle down.

Alabama's Director of PR, Paul Finebaum, said this wk that his sources tell him Thompson was forced out. He also admitted that he's been accused of being Saban's "National Spokesman". Take it FWIW.
