Nope, you've got yourself an original and actually interesting post. Thanks for providing the link.

Question: Why Saban in particular?

I think I was wrong, but it's okay.

Cruz: "How much did the current chaos contribute to your decision to retire now?"

Saban: "All the things that I believed in, for all these years — 50 years of coaching — no longer exists in college athletics."

But of course he never did that when he was at LSU.

make it a club sport and have volunteer coaches then. but if the schools and coaches are gonna take the bag, don't be surprised the players also want a piece.

ultimately it's a flawed system and always will be. colleges have no business being a development league for the nfl.

"When he was at LSU no one knew who he was so he didn't have to pay players, but when he went to Alabama everyone knew he was going to win big so he started paying players then." - Actual posted reasoning by an LSU fan on this board

Nothing entitles the players to this piece of which you speak. It's supposed to be amateur athletics.
These universities don't owe these players a fricking thing.

Top shelf delusion right there.

"amateurism" would be a club sport a few hundred fans show up to. not billion dollar deals with tv networks and coaches making 7 figures.

Scholarships are the piece. What percentage do you think of just college football players could afford to pay their way through school while playing football? There are plenty of doctors, lawyers and teachers that would like to be afforded the same.

The last thing we need is Saban 'fixing what's wrong' with football. He was a major player in making the NCAA irrelevant. He benefitted from the old system, gamed it. He had the NCAA under his thumb.

No more. He should be nowhere near this discussion.

I know you have a learning disability but he’s not against players being paid BUT as he states we need an NFL model if this is what we’re going to do. That’s why there is parity in the NFL. Like it or not half the sec including LSU cannot afford the direction CFB is going and will fall behind eventually if corrections are not made.

That world is never coming back no matter how many old-school fans complain. The fix moving forward is some type of contractual obligations between schools and the athletes so it’s not like damn Wild West.
