Being close to Coach Saban’s age, the body doesn’t work like a 55 year old. Basically, you get tired easier and your ability to focus starts to slip. Saban looked tired all last season to me. Was very passive and not like his old self imho. Yes, you may be correct why he retired but no doubt Coach could have handled any situation, nil, portal whatever if he had wanted too.
He owes no one an explanation. I hope he has a happy and healthy and long life.

Not to put too fine of a point on it but it was actually the Yeldon screen pass that created him. I live in Louisiana and believe me when I tell you, that singular play fricked up the LSU fanbase in ways they'll never recover from.
You don't have that guy without TJ Yeldon.

LSU got swept by Tennessee and Alabama won their series against Arkansas.
Willy miraculously had a two week European vacation scheduled that aligned with these two sporting events.
His timing is impeccable.

"The Screen and the Blitz." That game came on the heels of the beatdown BAMA put on the bayou boys in the NC game in New Orleans. The masses wanted blood and instead got another dagger to the heart. And this time in our home away from home, Baton Rouge.
