I'm getting a few disagreements. But no flames yet.

I might have to kick it up a notch and say something about peeing on statues. That might do it.

I would tell you to link this thread, but we don't really need any more gumps over here.

What if we had the Bear come back as a zombie, and Saban whack him?

Dude,
Bama is doing great but NO program is going to ever dominate for extended time periods like Bama of old or UF in the 90's.
The league is much more balanced. Scholarship limits effect everyone.
UF isn't going anywhere.
Auburn is coming back.
Tennessee is having a monster recruiting season.
UGa always has talent and can always be a player
Ole Miss is respectable.
LSU will continue to recruit well and, with the right coaching, has shown it can sustain an elite level program.
The Hogs seem to always be competitive.
It's a different league and a different time period.
Check USC this year. No one has recruited better. Carroll has a fine pedigree as a defensive and HC. Nothing lasts forever. Plus, Saban will hang around a while but he is no spring chicken.

...I think he has buried the Bear for good. If he wins this NC it will be a new era in Alabama football. The new generation will have their coach and it will be Nick Saban.

When I went to Tuscaloosa in 2007, I was talking to some Bama fans about Saban at the bar the night before the game. One thing they told me was that Saban was the first legit coach they've had recently who wasn't connected to Bear Bryant. They really liked this about Saban.

Finebaum was talking to Mrs. Saban after the SEC CG and he said this is no big deal for y'all as you have experienced this before and her reply was, We have never experienced anything like this before.

She also told the state of Louisiana that she and her husband were going to watch their oak trees grow old in Baton Rouge. They had a restaurant for gods sake!

Not saying hes going to leave, but it definitely isn't out of the question.

Better hope he doesn't get into any extra-marital affairs or he may leave to cover his tracks!

Anyone else find it sad that so many Bammers have wasted their lives worshipping their football coaches? I honestly feel sorry for them and their meaningless existence.

I like this guy's story for how he let the Bahr go gracefully:

quote:

Strongly disagree. On a personal level, I let him go many years ago. That's the way he would have wanted it.

Scoop
You know that thought crossed my mind a week ago but decided not to post it.

Coach Bryant was great in his time. He Was Alabama Football Personified. He will never be forgotton. Saban will erase a lot of the things ingrained in us now. Saban is The Man now..
