I really had him pegged to retire this year but he likes this class coming up. i said from day one he would coach there 5 years or so and win u 2 or 3 NC. He is that good and that relestless, and hates the maintain aspect of a NC job. It is just like why the tried to get rid of Steve Jobs at apple etc. The start up guys, hate running the company they like building a company. My dad was the exact same way. they are risk takers, creators and not the same set of personalities. It is nothing against Bama or Nick or anyone, but it is simply the way it is. This year was Lagniappe. Next year will even more, but he is leaving even if he himself denies it, he is leaving. (He isnt lying because he hasn't set it in stone. I bet he takes a year or two off, gets bored and then takes another college or pro job. Just my gut on this, and yes I don't personally know him well but we share many mutual friends and this is their opinion and it has been from day he was hired. Hell could you guys have really ask for more from him?

Now this seems entirely plausible. I've said the same thing the last few years to people who've said Saban was leaving Bama for "fill-in-the-blank". To me I could see him retire from Bama within the next 5 years which would put him at 66-67 years old. He is a workaholic. I imagine he would go bat shite crazy after a year or so of not being able to do what he does best. Then I could see him coming back either to take a shot at the NFL or a prestigious job in the NCAA for a while. His next move from Bama is retirement but I don't see him staying retired for long which is why I hope and pray he doesn't decide to retire until he's 80 and brings Bama about 10 more Nattys before he's done.

meh, I guess coaches will do/have been doing whatever they've done against Spurrier as well. Opponents have been saying that Spurrier is about to retire since 2008.

Here's what I think Saban ought to do.
"Retire" after the 2015 season.
Take about two or three seasons off, travel the world with his beloved, see the sights he's never given himself the opportunity to see.
Then come back and tell Bama he wants the job back and watch Bama immediately fire their coach at that point and immediately hire him back.
That would frickin' rock.

WTF! Why am I just now being told of this?
I actually like the point you make in your post..wish more on both sides had a similar point of view. Rivalry would be just as intense without the stupidity that seems to put us in national headlines
Just reread above and the word "seems" should be removed...but I will let others have fun with that.

There is absolutely no reason to leave his current gig and he can stay as long as he likes. /thread

He can always "unretire" in the future and coach LSU again! Wouldn't hurt my feelings. He's the best coach and recruiter and motivator in the history of college football. He's proving it right before our eyes. Good for him. We miss you in Tiger land St. Nick but we can't wait to beat you and the Tide again! Geaux Tigers!

okay, guess I will have to take up his slack.

Saban will continue to coach at the University of Alabama for as long as Terry will let him, and not one minute longer.
Dude is quite possibly the greatest HC in college football history, but there's no doubt that the poor bastard is whipped.
