until he retired in 1975. NEVER thought I'd say that about a college basketball or football team.
I'm 54 and have seen some great teams and runs. Ohio State,Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Alabama in the 1970's. Miami and Florida State in the 1980's and 1990's.
Truly amazing. I didn't think Tennessee would win and I wasn't going to be shocked if Alabama had won by 21-24. But never did I think they would totally dominate/humiliate that team. Classy of Saban to call those wide runs at the end.
Impressive.

I gotta say though, it feels really good after the years we had after Stallings. The trinity of Mikes was enough to drive Mother Theresea to drinking. They say you cant appreciate victory without defeat. Well, we know it well and it makes this that much sweeter.

Hurts more than you know. I am not a fan of any team in the west, but I am tired of Bama and ready for Saban to retire.
With that said, it is refreshing to watch a defense that flies to the ball and knows how to tackle. I love to watch physical football.
LSU is getting more physical since O took over. I hope LSU continues to improve and takes care of business this week against Ole Piss.

Doing it in basketball is more impressive than football though, IMO.
Saban's run has been unbelievably impressive, but the BCS made it easy for them, IMO.
2009- Had the CFB Playoff existed, Alabama and Florida likely would have had a rematch. Bama would have played TCU or Cincinnati in the first round. Florida would have played Texas. Would Tim Tebow and the Gators lose to Alabama for a second time? I think this would have been just like Bama-LSU in 2011. The rematch would have gone the other way. Florida in 2009 did not get the luxury that Bama got in '11 by getting the gift of a second chance.
2011- While they were the best team, IMO they never should have even been in the game. Bama-LSU had already been played, and they lost at home. There was no reason to see that game again other than to give Bama a do-over that they frankly did not deserve since they failed to win their division. LSU-Oklahoma State should have been the game played, and we'd all be talking about how that Bama team was probably the best ever not to win a title. They were the best, but did not deserve to play in it.
2012- Notre Dame playing in the National Title game was a joke. The S&P rankings put Notre Dame as the #5 team in the country in 2012. Yet due to not having to play a conference title game, lucking their way through a season, etc. the Irish wound up in Miami. Everyone knew this would be bloodshed from the get-go.
The College Football Playoff has helped create a safe guard for teams undeserving of a National Title game from making it to the tile game. That 2012 Notre Dame team would have been eliminated in the first round and Bama would have likely played Oregon or somebody in the Title game. Same with 2009... Texas likely would have been defeated by Tebow and the Gators, and Bama would have had to play Florida for a second time.
In basketball, whoever makes it to the Final Four had to earn it. You have to show up in every Tourney game to advance. The fact that Wooden and UCLA won so many in consecutive seasons is by far the most impressive run of any coach/team in NCAA sports history.

WTF are you talking about? Bama didn't show up all season? Bama didn't earn it? All FOUR times?
You such a Bama hating little bitch. You argue on one hand Bama didn't deserve to play LSU in the title game and then turn around and say 2012 was joke because Notre Dame wasn't worthy enough. You talk in circles. You're an idiot.

Hell no. Look at college basketball in the sixties and see how many good teams there were in the country compared to today.
On top of that, in 1965 there were only 23 teams in the NCAA tournament. There was no Pac 12 tournament, and UCLA only had to win four games in the NCAA tournament instead of 6.
Wooden wouldn't come close to replicating his success if he was starting out today.

Not gonna hijack the thread...but this makes absolutely zero sense. It's your opinion...and that's all it is.

I'm just curious...forget you, but was your father even alive when Wooden was coaching? You do realize that the competition in NCAA basketball in Wooden's day was miniscule compared to today, don't you? And the fact that UCLA only had to play four tournament games, right? You are aware of that, aren't you?

I also like the part about we would have lost to Florida in 2009 in a rematch...after of course they beat Texas.

So 4 out of 7 = 9 in a row?
OK, if you say so.

It doesn't...but if you think John Wooden could start his career today and have the same results, I've got a head of cabbage in my refrigerator that knows more about college basketball than you.

Bama has had a heck of a run...Wooden won 10 NCAA titles in 12 years.
He didn't lose a game from January '71 till January '73 (a 1 point loss to Notre Dame). That is 88 straight wins.
