After all the talk about how Derrick Henry was going to have his knees turned into powder by the evil win at all costs Nick Saban, I figured it would be interesting to check in on the Touches Per Game for some of the top backs in the country in 2016 to show how much better people their coaches are

Derrick Henry 2015 : 27.0 touches per game (26.3 rush, 0.7 receiving)

Christian McCaffrey 2016 : 33.5 touches per game (26.5 rush, 5.0 receiving, 1.0 punt return, 1.0 kick return)

Leonard Fournette 2016 : 29.0 touches per game (25.5 rush, 3.5 receiving)

I assume these chaps will have their touches brought down significantly, especially McCaffrey.

We'll need to give the LSU fans a little time to respond here. Many of them are busy calling the FBI about replay officials from the Ole Miss/Bama game.

It's only bad when it's Bama. When everyone else does it they get real quiet, bunch of hypocrites

You are rational, so I know you will respond well to this:

Henry loaded up on carries in a 2 game stretch. Then a light game, and then another heavy carry game. That is why the hooplah started

Carries in last 4 games

46
44
20
36

Why are you doing this? You were one of the few I liked and I was going to invite to my tailgate to shower with Gumbo, jambalaya, and bourbon. Now it might just be Reauxl......

HE SKRONG

Seriously, it's more the McCaffrey thing that bugs the shite out of me. Nobody talks about how many hits he takes.

His last 4 games (pre-Iowa blowout)

Oregon - 40 touches : 33 carries, 5 catches, 1 PR, 1 KR
Cal - 33 touches : 29 carries, 1 catch, 3 KR
Notre Dame - 36 touches : 27 carries, 3 catches, 1 PR, 5 KR
Southern Cal - 43 touches : 32 carries, 4 catches, 2 PR, 5 KR

And NOBODY talked about how much he got used or how much he got hit. Nobody.

It is sad! Poor Lynyrd's gonna have no championships nor awards of any kind when his LSU career is over. And no knees.

The dude shoulda gone to Bama and been a winner.

Mcaffrey plays against weak arse defenses not the first-round defense of the sec.

To be fair, nobody really talked about Henry getting over 40 carries in back to back games(it was only a TD thing). The media was silent on it, out of fear for Saban I guess and the fact Henry wasnt toted as a huge NFL pick. I guess McCafferey gets that treatment too.

Now, if LF has 46 carries Saturday against AU, it will be a non-stop Miles and LSU bash fest on ESPN.

Fournette is fine - he's a big strong dude who has shown he has no issues with 20-30 carries. And I think that the bigger issue with guys is long term carries that wear the body down, not short term.

It's just a joke that in the search for Saban is the Devil the Henry thing came up while no other back/coach in the last 10 years (and many have had similar totals) has gotten the same finger wag. And media favorite David Shaw sure as hell won't.

My bro, Saban didnt get the finger wag. Sure, this site gave it to him, but the Media was silent as a whole.

Some in the media are all over our balls already for LF just playing this season If he gets 46 carries Saturday, they will have their pitchforks out for us

That is so frickin dumb. Glad that LF7 doesn't even dignify that crap with a response.

I am not - too long a haul for me from the ATL.

I'd like to get back though - went in 2008 and it was an incredible time. Had a blast.

I hear ya. Can I stay at your place this year to watch LSU play in the SEC champ game?
