One of the most gut-wrenching stories in SEC history. For those of you not familiar, Mullins broke up a pass intended for Vandy's Brad Gaines in the 1989 Vanderbilt-Ole Miss game. The way Mullins hit him (who could pack a punch) unfortunately paralyzed him from the neck down. Sadly, he passed away at 21 a year and a half later as the result from a blood clot.
In the wake of the injury until his passing, the outpouring of love and support by the Ole Miss community and the unusual bond Gaines and Mullins formed were incredible. I highly recommend anyone who has not seen "Its Time" on the SEC Network to do so.

I thought it was Lee Roy.
ETA. And I was wrong. I do remember in 87 or 88 that hit. His head was down.

I remember Ole Miss playing in Knoxville 2 weeks later. It was a very somber atmosphere, and I remember fundraising outside of Neyland Stadium for Chucky. Truly tragic loss.
