This article explains the issues facing the conference regarding scheduling and the pros and cons of both the 8-game and 9-game conference schedule. At the conclusion, he lays out his first stab at the 3 permanent opponents for each team in a 9-game schedule.

With 3 permanent AU has to be on UF's schedule. That matchup no longer gets the same love as it did before 90's expansion.

There should be a pick'ems for picking the 3 permanent opponents of every team in the new SEC and the winner(s) get $1,000,000

The biggest difference here is even if a team isn't one of the 3 perma you play them every other season.

Huge difference.

horrendously wrong.

For starters, he doesn't have UGA as one of SC's 3 perms. I can almost 100% guarantee that UGA/SC will be one. We are SC's longest standing sec opponent and we've been playing forever. If clemson didn't exist we'd be SC's #1 rival, or at least tied for first with some scrub like unc or something.

He also doesn't have MSU and bama playing, which isn't nearly as egregious as no uga/sc, is still pretty bad.

It wasn’t even the 90s expansion that killed AU/UF. It was switching to a one-permanent rival crossover format instead of two in the early 2000s that killed it. The rivalry needs to come back on a yearly basis if possible, imo.

I’m going to be really upset if we have tie breakers like the NFL to determine a champion. Two teams who didn’t play each other, but one beat Ole Miss by 3 and the other team beat them by 7, so the team that won by 7 goes to the championship is going to get old, very fast.

I don’t understand OK vs Fla. Was that the last puzzle piece that didn’t fit?

Alabama will play aub tenn and state.

He’s got this list so jacked up. You can’t have an upper and lower because that changes. That is idiotic. He has Tennessee as a lower tier which is just flat out stupid. He’s trying to keep LSU out of a A&M, arkie, Texas, Oklahoma arrangement and it won’t work that way. First, somebody has to play those schools, 2nd, LSU geographically makes sense to play A&M, arkie and Texas. I see LSU keeping ole miss but also permed with arkie and A&M. Florida will not be a perm with Oklahoma like his earlier statement. We’re gonna basically have a big 12 and an sec merger and LSU is gonna be as much big 12 as sec.

That is a solid schedule. But regardless of how it shakes out, some teams are going to be bellyaching.
For instance, LSU-Arkansas are not included.

The caveat is that each team will stay play the other teams 2 out of every 4 years. So you are not completely losing some of those secondary rivalries.

I think the 9 game schedule is ten times better than the 8 game schedule and yes as a State alum/fan I realize that it makes our own schedule tougher. But that is part of what competition is all about.

Auburn is going to get screwed either way.

UF
Lsu

They’ve got to sprinkle some Lil 10 in there.

Or he is trying to keep the matchup that grossed the most views/money for the SEC most years in tact.

At the end of the day, it's all about $$$$$$$$$$

I'd rather swap out Arkie or Aggie for Florida.

Yeah...I was puzzled by that one as well. As some have mentioned, UF/Auburn really needs to come back. I could see Auburn with Bama, UGA, and UF as permanent games. Don't know how this would effect everyone else. How about UF with Auburn, UGA, and USC?

LSU needs to be: Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida. Florida is LSU’s only true rival, it’s currently tied 33-33, 4 national titles to 3, 3 Heismans to 2. Great game every year.
A&M: should be Texas, Arkansas, Missouri
Texas: A&M, Oklahoma, Mizzou.
Oklahoma: Texas, Mizzou, Arkansas
Arkansas: Vanderbilt, A&M, Oklahoma
Mizzou: Texas, Oklahoma, A&M

This is what I'm afraid of. The projection posted earlier that had A&M and OU as two of our permanents sucks.

Thats a great point. None of this cross divisional bullshite.

Auburn hasn’t played at vandy since 2012… UK since 2015. It’s stupid.
