So it's been painfully perplexing to witness ESPN use its outsize influence to prop up a Southeastern Conference that, for the first time in a decade, is arguably in a state of decline.

Must be referring to the SEC East.

Does the author disclose that he's an FSU grad in the article?

Of course not. I had to Google his name which yielded a link to his web site where he includes his resume. I've never seen any other writer's site that included a resume. Kinda strange.

Fook em - all it comes down to is those fookers are trying to keep us down.

And if I recall - Florida state had the chance to be in the sec but opted for the safety of remaining in the ACC

Referring to the DJ Pettway assault case he links, by all means read it. The victim has forgiven him, Saban even met with the victim and apologized to him and he doesn't think Pettway was the one who assaulted him and the legal system and the football program have punished him. The other two are long gone from the team. Same with Nick Marshall. He has gone through the process. Winston has not.

Team Vote went through the legal process as well, and he and Miles got plenty of crticism from ESPN and all other sports media. They took their lumps and didn't whine. They both got/get plenty of praise too when merited. That's what happens when you play and coach for a big time program. He reeks of Thayer Evans butt hurt type journalism.

The incoming (Jan.) FSU president is a political favor being repayed. He's resigning as the current head of Rick Scotts fundraising efforts, and is basically tasked with fundraising for FSU...so do you really think he's going to hamper the biggest marketing weapon he has?

Mybe FSU fans should remember why FSU chose the ACC way back when. They thought the SEC would be too hard.

ESPN shills for whoever is playing. They taunt other conferences by touting us and then taunt us by saying we're overrated. They'll use anything at their disposal to keep your ears perked up and your eyeballs on the screen. It's a perfect setup. Riled up fanbases on all sides are good for ratings and the more riled up the better.

I have many problems with how ESPN covers sports and there spin and bias, but seeing how they are so invested in the SEC it makes business sense. There's no money in ACC football.
