Americans are often referred to as Yanks in soccer on the global scale. Basically his way of rooting for Bama and USA Soccer at the same time.
ETA: The American Outlaws are a diehard cheer group for USA Soccer, thus the scarves.

It's an American Outlaws (US Soccer Fan Org) scarf for the Tuscaloosa chapter. They just brought it to the Alabama girls soccer game. So, it's really for US Soccer, not Alabama.

Except it is because it is a play on an Alabama cheer because it is a fan group made up mostly of Alabama students and fans....and it was being used at an Alabama athletic event.
