When college football was at it's finest incarnation. Not the woke joke it is today.

This. SEC’s best era: tough physical Defense first league without all the gay programs that joined later.

Being a female sideline reporter just gets more fun all the time — on Friday, ESPN announcer Rod Franklin's sexist comments to reporter Jeannine Edwards got him pulled from a bowl game. And it's not his first offense.

According to Sports by Brooks, Franklin, Edwards, and fellow announcers Ed Cunningham and Rod Gilmore got into a discussion before Friday's Chick-fil-A Bowl about Gilmore's wife's election as mayor of Alameda, CA. When Edwards tried to add something, Franklin said, "Why don't you leave this to the boys, sweetcakes." She stood up for herself, replying, "don't call me sweetcakes, I don't like being talked to like that." His response: "okay then, a-hole."

RIP Ron and you were right. She was an azzhole and ugly.

The night the barn burned. video and article

One of my favorite announcers, may he rest in peace.

I was in the west upper deck and at first thought the east deck was on fire.
quote:

"I'm trying to do play-by-play and I've got producers talking in my ear from Bristol," said announcer Ron Franklin, who was calling the game on ESPN. "They're getting all these phone calls because our camera angles made it look like the stadium was on fire. It made for an unusually quiet Auburn crowd for a time, I do remember that. Very, very quiet."

Franklin called some fricking epic LSU-Auburn games.

Those early 2000s games between us were badass.

Yep, was there for that one, too.

DiNardo said he actually cried after that game he was so sick with the "what ifs."

I have never been more frustrated with a team effort in my life...was kinda like UGA/Bama #1 this year.

Graduated from Oxford High School and studied at Ole Miss. He was a television icon at two of the best television stations in Houston, first KHOU (CBS) and then KPRC (NBC).

He did Houston Oiler play by play and then on to ESPN. Later did texas university play by play.

He was one of the nicest people in broadcasting and didn't suffer fools. Early days of political correctness got him....first Holly Rowe and finally Jeannie Edwards.

Edwards also helped Billy Gillispie get canned when she asked a stupid question at halftime and he told her it was a stupid question.
