Watkins had scholarship offers from nearly every major college football power in the country, as he selected Stanford over UGA, Notre Dame, Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma. Watkins final two schools were University of Georgia and Stanford.

Sources close to Watkins indicated that the uncertainty surrounding coaching stability in Athens combined with the opportunity to garner a world-class education at Stanford played a major factor in his decision. It is worth noting that Watkins visited Athens last weekend for UGA's game against South Carolina.

Kid isn't that good. I guarantee you he couldn't call up Bama or UF and commit if he wanted to.

Just give him an extension and that all should be cleared up.

These are, respectively, the best and the 3rd best academic institutions on the list. And #2 sucks at football (see, in this regard, the final 30 seconds in Ann Arbor Saturday).

I'm just saying his offer wasn't commitable from all the schools listed.

what did you expect?

if i'm a good hs football player i'm not gonna willing commit to a team where i don't know who the next HC will be.

There is gonna be a year of recruiting being down, but its like taking off a band aid. The sooner you pull it off the less it will hurt. If they wanna drag their feet with richt it will be a painful arse recruiting class.

Most obvious reason anybody that can go to stanford would go there IMO.

Georgia is loaded with talent. They will haved another good recruiting year this year. The only thing the rest of the SEC needs to worry about is Richt getting the axe and UGA getting a good coach.

So Saban's and Fisher's and Chizezezez programs were also passed on for Stanford.

Same guy says he eliminated LSU, and the reason he specified was that we were on probation.
