I’m dead serious, was it a bad pick? I hear all the the hate for The Falcons but not so much for the raiders .

I don’t think they dislike Bowers, just the fact that they drafted a TE in the 2nd last year also. That’s a lot of draft capital for a position that most teams wouldn’t spend 1 high draft pick on. Add to that the fact that they have trash throwing to those TEs, and the disappointment is understandable.

They are reacting more to having to keep another position they don’t want to keep than BB as a TE.

I don't follow the raiders.

How good are their receivers?

To have 2 TEs on the field, you generally drop your worst receiver off of it.

Tight ends are basically the worst positions to draft high and they just drafted one high last year.

Dumb on both counts.

If you have a good running game, the tight ends add a lot of playcall versatility (run/pass).

It creates mismatches.

I didn't know this, so it makes a little more sense now.

Still though, I think Bowers is a generational talent.

It's a great pick..but they had other needs. Also, they drafted Mike Mayer last year at TE

Assuming he has a healthy career he will have an all pro career. I don’t see how you can hate on that.

Even if you don’t need a TE Bowers should be the kind of talent you can trade to another team for a ton of value in a year or two.

Raiders didn't reach for a QB and trade up for Bo Nix or something. They went with the best player available and likely will look for a franchise QB in next year's draft.

I think they made the right move.

As a Raider fan, I'm super pumped about the pick but I was expecting the Raiders to draft a tackle with the first pick. We need one. I think that's what most people expected us to do.

The pick was solid for the Raiders. We're not going to rely on a QB centered offense. We were winning games at the end of last season with a rookie QB, solid running game, and good defense. Bowers will allow the Raiders to be run heavy but still create mismatches in the passing game. You'll likely see a lot two TE sets with Bowers split out wide.

Has nothing to do with it.

They take longer than any other position to develop, and the ones that do, think Andrews/ Kelce / Hockenson, don't usually hit till 3+ years.

By then the rookie deal is over, and they are usually abundant in free agency.

They are terrible draft picks.

Atlanta focked them good. Guarantee you they planned on taking Penix in that spot

So you are on record that Bowers will take 3 years to develop.
