Former L.A. Fairfax basketball standout Renardo Sidney will be ineligible for the remainder of this season, 30% of the 2010-11 season, and must repay $11,800 in "benefits received from preferential treatment," the NCAA announced Friday.

Citing violations of "ethical conduct," Sidney's university, Mississippi State, established that the freshman broke rules by providing "false or misleading information throughout the eligibility process," according to an NCAA statement.

According to the statement, Sidney and his family used money from a nonprofit organization for personal gain, Mississippi State reported to the NCAA.

Good of MSU to report that and be so forgiving...

Can't he declare for NBA draft since he's a year removed from high school - my guess, he does that.

He is out of shape (over 300lbs) and hasnt played a game in a long time. I expect Sidney to come back to State next year (he has already stated this on his facebook page) I think that Mississippi State will appeal the 9 games next year, and also see if our 2 exhibition games can count towards the 9.

Does he have the cash to pay back? I know I would not have.

Im sure his parents do. I fully expect Sidney to be a MAJOR IMPACT player next year for Mississippi State and will replace Jarvis Varnado.

Sidney will be back at State. He isnt physically ready for the NBA or even the NBDL. Also, there isnt a major European club who will be willing to sign him right now with him over 300lbs and out of shape in the middle of their seasons.

Just got a Tweet from MSU beat writer Kyle Veazey saying that Sidney was quoted saying "I will be back at Mississippi State next year"

Do you think they will do a investigation on where he got the money from when he pays it back?
