Imagine the melt when LSU fans figure out that The GOAT is coaching 5-7 more years

You will know he is done in the year he loses a game to a clearly inferior (non-top 25) opponent that puts them out of playoff contention (see Arkansas or Auburn this year). Until then, rumors of his demise are premature.

The reason he is so good is that you have to beat him. He does not lose to you.

I've said it 100000 times since the SECCG. 2023 is the best Coaching Job of Nick Saban's Career and I don't think it's particularly close.

The playoff results really don't matter one way or another. 12-1 with the way they looked in September is unfrickingReal.

You might want to wait until you see how they do against Michigan.

Bro a coach who makes the 4-team playoff is neither “washed up” nor “done”. Period.

You folks never learn do you? Year after year when Saban gets a random arse loss it’s the same thing and the same thing in turn gets shot right down. CFB was damn close to having Bama in the mix last year too. One of those two last play losses, it would have probably been a different outcome to the Championship Game last year as well.

Are you saying he's retiring this year?

Agreed 100%. I remember telling folks this 2023 Bama team was probably one of the weakest of Saban’s career through the first 1/2 of the season. Close games vs South Florida, A&M, Arky, Auburn. Lose at home to the longhorns…

And it still might really be one of his worse teams in terms of talent, but the coaching job that staff has done and the ways they found to win are impressive.

Reminder: Saban is 72.

Enjoy it while you still can and soak it all in while you still can would be my suggestion.

If he can win 3 in a row he might retire.

I’m thinking after somehow sliding into the playoff this year he’s now reinvigorated and will try to coach until he’s being lowered into the grave. He’s likely currently programming an AI hologram that Bama will use for the next 5000 years.

Anyone who thought for a minute he was washed up were only kidding themselves or not paying attention.

I mean what Auburn did was one of the worst defensive calls in history. So now Saban still has it b/c of Auburns total incompetence? A qb spy on 4 and 31 and only have to guard the end zone?

Saban had to ambulance chase Jordan Travis to get Bama in this year. He hasn't pointed his finger like that, out in the open, in the past which indicates an obvious decline.

To me, the new home in Florida seems to indicate that he wants to transition into becoming a broadcast analyst; probably for ESPN.

Here was my post on May 31 addressing this very topic. It was a very hot topic in the off season:
