How is Alabama's schedule pathetic?
It is currently ranked:
35th in Anderson Hester SOS
18th in Billingsley SOS
35th in Colley SOS
26th in Massey SOS
35th in Sagarin SOS
for an average of 29.8. ND has an average of 22.6.

the pathetic thing is how you all must reinforce your common delusion. go read some preseason articles and see who everyone thought had the harder schedule in 2012, alabama or lsu. see, the funny thing about scheduling something in the future is you dont know how it will turn out. even with some of bama's normally tough opponents turned out to be weaker than advertised, our SOS is not that far off from LSU (34 for AL vs 28 for LSU), so you can stop with the 'alabama had the weakest schedule in the history of the world' business. you lost 2 games, deal with it.

Obviously common opponents isn't the best way to do it because each game and situation is different, but points given up to common opponents:
Missouri - Alabama gave up 10, Florida gave up 7 / advantage FLORIDA
Tennessee - Alabama gave up 13, Florida gave up 20 / advantage ALABAMA
LSU - Alabama gave up 17, Florida gave up 6 / advantage FLORIDA
Texas A&M - Alabama gave up 29, Florida gave up 17 / advantage FLORIDA
Georgia - Alabama gave up 28, Florida gave up 17 / advantage FLORIDA
That's a 4-1 edge to Florida and a 67-98 edge to Florida in points allowed against 5 common opponents. Obviously not exact science, but it seems pretty clear to me that Florida had a better defense, plus they had a much worse offense.

Yep, i remember it as recently as after the LSU and A&M games, don't feel like bumping threads but there were plenty of Bama fans on here calling out their own defense (Vinnie can't cover a soul, Belue sucks, no pass rush, bla bla bla).
I'll give you guys the ranking, technically you were #1. But if you give me any defense in the country this year i'm taking Florida. That's going off the eyeball test. Bama played 3 teams worth a shite this year in LSU, A&M and UGA, all common opponents of UF who's defense performed significantly better against each.

florida played both a&m and lsu early in the year. LSU had a bye week before bama and a&m had bama the week after lsu. not saying that one is better than the other, but that is something to consider. against a&m, bama gave up 20 points int he 1st quarter, only 9 the rest of the game. we were pretty clearly hung over on defense, having played for 40 minutes on d against lsu.
edit. just noticed you guys had a bye before lsu, and played kentucky the week before. so 2 weeks off

-BYU defense is better than Florida, LSUs, NDs..
-Bowling Green has a better defense than LSU, comparable to Floridas
etc.
Alabama has the best defense because it's ranked #1!
But..
