surprising.

Georgia 50-4 .926
Alabama 49-5 .907
Oklahoma 36-14 .720
Ole Miss 34-15 .691
Texas 32-17 .653
LSU 31-19 .620
Texas A&M 29-18 .617
Tennessee 30-19 .612
Kentucky 29-21 .580
Missouri 28-22 .560
Miss St 25-24 .510
Florida 25-25 .500
Arkansas 23-25 .479
Auburn 23-26 .469
So Car 22-26 .458
Vanderbilt 9-36 .200

I would not have guessed Ole Miss being third and they are comfortably so. But it makes sense given Auburn and UF's poor play during this time and LSU and Tennessee's down then up. Lane has had seasons rivaling LSU and Tennessee's best without bottoming out the way they were at their worst. Ole Miss is in really good position right now to hold their spot for the next few years, maybe even inch closer to the top two.

A&M is fifth among conference teams in the time period. Kind of surprising given the overall take of that program. I get Jimbo was paid like he was top two or three, but you would think he was worse than that.

Probably due to recency bias, but I would've guessed Mizzou would be a little higher.

LSU being up at 4th is staggering to me considering what Orgeron let the program devolve into during the '20 and '21 seasons.

Obviously in such a tough conference that sees teams go through a lot of ups and downs, a 4 year sample size is very small. But, almost feels good as an LSU fan that LSU can still have some level of success even with completely incompetent leadership. That's not even to mention our AD before Woodward which was an absolute joke.

How is tu or OU applicable in your analysis when they weren’t in our conference. You think the Big 12 holds equal weight? I don’t

They aren't which is why they are in italics and he listed Ole Miss as being third. Those are clearly just there as a point of reference.

1. I found this on another site.

2. I didn't offer any analysis about those two teams.

3. Any analysis I did offer, I talked about the teams that did play in the SEC those years and their ranking among SEC teams that played in the conference those years.

4. I put those two teams in italics for a reason.

It is based on the start of this decade.

But if you'd like something bigger...

I think we all can agree Lane punches above his weight class, but can he really put it all together and win a championship remains the question.

I saw a stat one time that since we joined the SEC in 2012, we were one of only three teams (Alabama and Georgia I think?) that had made a bowl game every single year… until the 2022 season. It just showed we were consistently average, but never had the really bad seasons most teams would run into every so often.

Also due to A&M most years playing an absolute joke of 4 nonconference games, at home, plus having South Carolina as its annual rival.
