I'm making my first trip to Oxford this weekend. What bars and restaurants should be at the top of my list? I searched around but couldn't find any threads on it. TIA.

Chicken on a stick. Ask the locals where it is. You won't be disappointed

I spent most of the afternoon at Boure last time I was there. Had an excellent hamburger, and some choice local brews.
Definitely worth a shot.

What is the deal with out of towners and chicken on a stick. It's exactly what the name implies, fried chicken on a stick. If you want "good" drunk food order coop.

Oddly, I can't find any good suggestion threads for Starkville

There is one somewhere. I started one last week before I went to Starkville.

For food go to the library. Best steak in town.
As for a bar try out Lamar lounge. It's in the middle of all the exitement and you can walk to the other bars from there if you're disappointed, but you won't be.

...and where are the gay bars. Y'all need to increase the "fabulous" scene now that Aggies are in the SEC.

Don't forget the Sizzler. It's where everyone goes these days.

We were dumb enough to eat "Mexican food" in Oxford last year...Don't remember the name of the place, but umm don't do it
A quesadilla was basically a rolled up burrito, and everything else was all around awful.

Try to get on the balcony of Boure, overlooks the whole square and good bar food.
