Mackey not playing in the first game is a pretty big blow IMO.
I think there are 3 or 4 games that are going to separate OM from a bad/okay season: BYU, Fresno, Vandy, and MSU.
Not having Mackey for BYU could really hurt in November.

It could also help. This just means that for the next couple weeks we have a starting qb who will take more snaps and be more prepared than if we split the snaps between two guys who have been equal the past 5 months
