He simply noted that he hasn't played much at Georgia. He certainly didn't play much during the SECCG. Coach Saban talked about players willing to play hurt. Not playing injured, playing hurt. He didn't say what category Mims was in.

That's not what he said. He said he took himself out of the SEC championship game when he wasn't actually hurt and blamed it on he fact that he went to a small school and isn't used to competing so he was faking injuries. It's a bad look. Hopefully , it's true, otherwise Saban is just a POS.

He actually didn't say that.

"This guy's got all the tools -- he's got great size, he's got great power. ... But it makes you wonder, how did the guy only start 8 [games?] Like, in the SEC championship game, he played only the first 15 plays of the game and then he's out. Takes himself out. I don't know what he injured, what he hurt, whatever. But you've got to be a little bit more consistent in your performance if you're going to be a great player and a starter in the National Football League."

quote:

"One of the things that I see in guys -- he went to a small high school. He was always bigger and better than everybody else. So do you ever really develop the traits that you need to have to compete against guys that are as good as you? He's gonna play against guys that are as good as him, now. So if he didn't develop those habits, he better focus on them now."

Coach Saban said "he only started 8 games in his career at Georgia. He took himself out of the SECCG after only 15 plays. You have to be more consistent than that. I don't know if he is hurt or injured."

Personally, Cincy took a flyer on a guy who may not even like football. And his toughness as a tackle in the NFL is certainly in question.

Quotes have been provided that are 100% good analysis as far as what clubs are probably looking at…and they don’t imply anything like what you’re suggesting. I didn’t watch so I’ll remain open minded: would you like to provide the quotes you’re referencing? Or are you simply an emotional retard who twisted these fair statements into the bullshite you’re spewing?

He never seemed to play up to his potential at Georgia. But, as the old NFL exec once said “TOE is how we draft…traits over everything”.

Joe Burrows has been hospitalized more than most at this early stage of his career. Finishing a season for Joey is becoming a myth at this point. Taking flyers on the OL in the first round doesn't seem that smart.

They should have taken AJ Hawk, Darius Butler, Cowboy Hat dude, Connor, Bill Belichick and Nic Saban and just have a sit round discussion of each pick. Allow the fan/players to ask Bill and Nick about what they see about the player from a college and pro perspective. That would be interesting.

You got a few interesting takes, I enjoyed watching the fan and players ask the GM/Coach experts why the teams did what they did and what they saw in players. So you had a fan, player, coach and GM's perspective. That would be a fund draft show to watch.

He literally said he only played 8 games, then says he took him self out of the SECCG, implying he wasn't hurt, and the said he played at a small HS and isn't used to competing.

Connect the dots, it's not hard to understand what the man is saying here. If it's true, it is what it is. If he's just implying the guy is faking injuries because he can't compete without knowledge, then he is a POS. Exactly like I said in my other posts.

That's actually a great idea.

Sort of like the concept of the national championship Coaches Film Room broadcast, but in a more controlled environment and without the need for rapid-fire commentary.

I would 100% watch that.

Hell, I'd pay to watch a show of them just breaking down film every week.

Coach has always been the smartest guy in the room. And the smartest coach on the sidelines. ESPN/ABC better be careful, people will stop watching if they actually give fans something to think about.

Smartest guy in the room, seriously? He knows football better than the rest of them but that doesn’t mean he’s smarter. The gump Saban worship gets old.

Saban graded out as a D in the NFL draft.
C- in 2005
F in 2006

The notion that Saban is infallible is disgusting.
But this is entertainment.
If he is entertaining (as many are saying), he has value.

The great thing about hot takes is that they are receipts.
Saban will be right or wrong about Mims. It isn't difficult to look back and know if he is full of shite (like his 2 NFL drafts suggest) or insightful.

Mims did play a ton... just not always as a starter. But he had meaningful snaps almost every game 2021 on the way to a national championship. I believe Mims has over 350 pass rush snaps with no sacks allowed.

Stats can tell truths (pass rush snaps with no sacks allowed in a playoff run) and they can imply things that may or may not be relevant (8 starts).

I can say this. There isn't 1 player in the NFL draft who doesn't have a health concern. It is impossible to never miss a game or to never have a procedure (including offseason cleanups). Some concerns are more significant than others.

He implied it, as have many others. Which leads me to believe it is true.
